What is the first thing you will get when there's a fire in your house? Me, my envelopes of legal documents.

Thank you. Legal papers and documents are very important too. sometimes it is very hard and expensive to replace them.

funny about 2 years ago now my house burnt to the ground at 2:30am and what did I get? My animals that was it! my dog saved my life because he woke me up the fire alarms never went off till the whole house was engulfed. after the fire we found some little things in the rubble, including the car titles and insurance paperwork that were in a fireproof box inside a fireproof filecabinet. it was quite expensive to replace what other documents we did lose. I would defenatly reccomend at least a fire proof box. stored close to an exit area.

If there is a fire in house, I will take my portable hard-disk with me, because the data is too precious to lose. I usually backup my working documents and personal stuff on the portable hard-disk in case of computer failure or virus infection. I can't imagine what I can do if I lose both the computer and my backup data in the fire. So as long as I have time to flee for my life, I will take the hard-disk with me.
