Have you expreinced drafting?

Drafting is taking advantage of the car in front of you when it comes to wind resistance. When you're driving fast (let's say at 100+ mph), you'll notice that the wind resistance is strong enough that you'd actually hear it and notice that the car's acceleration is affected by it. Just imagine when you're behind a car and you're running at 100 mph (please be careful, don't tailgate at that speed). That car is already receiving much wind resistance and your car is pretty much clear of any (if not totally cleared of resistance). Some racers take advantages of this and draft behind a car to gain more acceleration and eventually, overtake that car. Kind of rude right? After taking advantage of the less resistance, we'd overtake. But it's just the way it is. I've tried it and it is noticeable at high speeds. I tried it out with my van (at 90 mph) and it did go faster. Just be careful since the car may brake anytime. Have you tried drafting behind another car? and how fast were you going and did you feel any effect? drive safe everyone.

I've done it behind an 18 wheeler. Not more tha 60-65 mph. Cuts down on gas usage.

Yeah, that would really save you gas. There's gotta be very low wind resistance behind a truck. Just be careful my friend. A lot of 'em can't see cars behind them and may break suddenly. Take care and stay safe.

Thanks, I will, I don't do it very often. You take care and stay safe, too.

yes ive drafted before i dont think it was the smartist thing ive done but i did it i was going 120 and the other guy was doing the same we only had about 10 feet in between us so if he would have hit something i would have hit him but i saved about 10% on my gas money but i would not do it again its not worth that 10%.

You're right at that. It does give you a bit more mileage since you're going faster with less effort on your car. But yeah, the drawback is it really isn't safe especially at very high speeds. It could be safer if it's during racing but still, it's very much prone to accidents. Take care and drive safely.

I've done this a couple of times. I was going about 120km/h and I was behind a van I felt that the handling on the car was a lot better as well I saved quite a bit of gas.
