When the whole family sits to watch the television who holds the remote....Is it you or someone else in the family....or do you all fight for the remote.

Hi! Im the one who controls the remote...most of the time.^_^ Parents dont really have much time for tv so I have it during that time. Though, whenever its the news or something like that its their turn. For recreational tv viewing, they have it during mornings when Im asleep, and on weekends Mom gets her weekly dose of variety shows.^_^

What kind of programmes do you generally watch on tv? Are you more fond of movies or do you like the soaps?

Think Id be more into the movies. Id love to watch those that I know is going to end with a proper ending since some tv series are a bit cut off when their networks just decided to not pick them up for a new season or something. Though I do watch series and there are lots of good ones too.

Looks like you are not interested in controlling the remote. Then your wife would be lucky to enjoy all the programms she likes. Not all women are lucky though. In my house it is me who keeps the remote...except when my son is at home....then I dont get to even look at the remote and have to just watch the programmes he likes.

Though I'm not much of a TV viewer, I LIKE to be in control of the remote when we are watching television. But sadly that's not the case and my husband is the one who takes control of the remote when all of us are watching together. My son hardly gets control of it unless no one is watching....but he has to give it to me if his father isn't around and I need to watch something. He grudgingly hands it over to me....and I do let him see bits and pieces of what he wants though the remote is in my hand.

I have come to an agreement with my kids...I get to keep the remote from 8 pm to midnight everyday and the whole of sunday. They have to watch their programmes during the day. After all there is repeat telecast of everything now.

I too did not have a television for seven years in the house because the kids asked me not to buy one after the old set went out of order. I bought the new tv just a few months back.

It is so nice when you have the sole control of the remote and nobody to disturb you. You are lucky that he is not interested in learning to use the remote or watch television.

Hi mayka, Well iam not some one who is going to fight for TV or TV remote. TV is just a waste of time. And also depends upon what we all are viewing. When its a cricket match or wwe .. remote is always with me. I dont like to watch movies or the TV serials . Iam mostly out of my house, so no fighting over remote control for sure! Cheers, Tutul

In my house it is usually my partner who has the remote as he seems to be the one who watches the most telly. But he always asks me what i would like to watch. So we never fight over it.

Usually if me,my fiance, and my mom and dad sit down to watch television my dad is usually in control of the remote, and he will sit there and constantly flip through channels to find something on television,if just me,my fiance and my mom are watching television my mom is usually in charge of the remote and what we watch since we usually watch what she wants to watch, unless we are watching a DVD then me and my fiance are usually in control of the remote since my mom does not like working the DVD player.

I think this happens in every family. In my house I keep the remote and my daughter gets angry sometimes. But she is too good to say anything about it.

I think most kids like to keep the remote to themselves. My son too is the same...Luckily just now he is not staying with me so I can watch all the programmes I like...My daughter hardly ever intereferes and allows me to watch my favourite programmes.

My dad has the control. Normally we won't fight as dad is getting old and we all respect him. I think things will get change pretty soon when my 2 nierces learn how to use the remote control. I'm my dad will be no longer in control. It will turn out to be a war between these 2 lovely princess.

In our house, it's me all the way. We are three members and we all have separate TVs and remotes. And guess what, I boss around over anyone on this matter. If I am in dad's room I take charge of the remote and like wise..

the one who bought the tv controls the remote hahaha, at home my father controls the remote but we can still suggest channels to go to, and then he sleeps early so i get to watch shows i like hahaha, before when we were younger, he scolds us when we watch shows with kissing scenes or bed scenes, now he still switches channels when there are scenes like that hahaha

Most parents do not want their children watching certain channels. They feel uncomfortable. And vice versa many kids also do not like watching this in the presence of their parents. In my house just now my daughter gets to watch the television the whole day when I am out of the house and after I go home from work I get to watch all the channels that I like to.
