Look, Windows is flawed and gets viruses all the time e.g tracking cookies all the way to trojans ect... But there is a free OS which you can just burn to a disk and run and install. Windows Vista costs! In fact about 40% of the laptop with Windows vista is the cost for having the OS.Linux and it's distrubutions are free and completely customizable. They are almost identitcal but better and easiler. Whats your opinions on Windows V Linux

I think people still prefer Windows over Vista and Linux because Windows is still faster and people still find it easier to manipulate than the other two. Linux is quite complicated unless you understand terms and concepts for it. Vista, from what I heard from my friends, is really a lot slower than Windows.

I just wanted to remind you that; 3.1, 3.11, nt, 95, 98, xp, and Vista (did I miss any?) are all Windows. I assume that what you are referring to is Windows XP. Seven will also be Windows.
When you say, manipulate, I assume you mean use, because there is not a lot of manipulation that you can legally do to Windows, where as Linux, you could rewrite the entire operating system if you want to. The reason people tend to find Windows XP easier to use is because they have been using it for 7 years or so. I started a new user (in his late 60's) off in Linux and he is doing just fine, as it is all he has ever known....
As for the speed thing, I can only say that Linux moves much faster on my computer than Windows XP ever did.

I think linux is actually much better, but windows is hogging 80% of OS systems' sales in the global market because you are practically forced to if you want to be able to download and use whatever program/pc game/etc you want, when all the other systems greatly lack in these areas as not many developers and programmers even bother to try making their software/game workable on other systems, and if they do it will be for macintosh.
Unless that lil problem is solved, Windows will always stay people's choice, what a drag.. I personally would prefer and get linux if it wasn't for that

oh, and I forgot to mention that the scum who make viruses mainly target windows systems since viruses are programs too and so need to be written in a specific way that would make it work with a specific operating system, so there are many more -if not all- viruses rampaging on Windows' systems and not the others cuz the others are generally not targeted by these viruses so they're virus free.
In other words, the only reason why viruses exist so much in windows is because of its' popularity!

The simple answer is Windows is user friendly and linux is not. But I love linux as i can't effort for windows. There are somany linux versions that confuses the user too. But when you have linux commmand in hand, Linux is very interesting than windows.
