Have you ever bought or inherited a property of any kind abroad? How did you find the process of getting the property? My family is about to get a holiday home in Greece. It is a pretty scary process. We are not as rich as it might sound, but have made some decitions that have enabled us to do this. It is very scary since we from time to time feel unsure about the language, the customs and the system. It is not like home. Not at all. It is fun, but scary. If you have not had this experience yet - would you like to?

I think it would be fun to inherit a castle in Ireland...I've always been interested in that country. I think it would be somewhat overwhelming to be in a strange country where everything is different. ~~IN SEARCH OF PEACE WITHIN~~ **AGAINST THE STORMS, I WILL STAND STRONG**

A castle in Ireland sounds great :-) It is a bit owerwhelming. Today my Mom and my man has been having some talks with the public services and lawyers. Seems things are never as straight foreward as they seem. There are always a problem lurking. Hopefully thay may all be streightened out

Buying property is a good investment but buying property in foreign lands is more of a problem as it would be left empty most of the time and would only come back there once in a while. It has never cross my mind to buy property abroad. One because I do not have the money and second I have few properties in my homeland which I can hardly manage. People from overseas are buying beach homes in my country which I think is feasible because of the monetary exchange and they find that the property here in Malaysia are cheap and our governement encourage foreigners to buy property.

Thank you for the response! I agree with your input. We are very lucky to live in a country with very high livingstandards and high wages compared to most parts of the world. We have gotten info about buying properties in Thailand for instance. They are so cheap for us that they are available for most working folks here. Using the houses is harder though due to cost and distance. One could get a really nice place for half of what a room would cost here. We'd use our house a lot. My Mom is retired, and I cannot work due to illness. Our lives are better in a better climate. We also have large families that would use the house. It would surely be cheaper for us to rent when on holiday, but our circumstanses are so that we think the best solution is our own place. The price is high but we'll get to use it a lot as it is not that far away. I think it is sad that foreigners get to buy many of the beach homes and driving prices up so that the locals are pushed out of the market.
