Is it ok to tell a "daddy" truth?

My 9 year old daughter baked her first batch of chocolate cupcakse. Upon arriving home, she ran up to me and handed me one to try. She asked for my opinion, and I asked if she wanted the truth, or a "daddy" truth? The cupcake was bad, the "daddy" truth said it was great! Should I have told her the "real" truth?
