When i was in Tokyo at 1998 so I eat Japanese food everyday. It is hugely more diverse than just sushi and there are so many influences. Japanese use mostly fresh ingredients and things should be appealing to the eye as well as the palate. I think there are many more vegetables and herbs in Japanese cooking than other cuisine too. Japanese borrow from the best of the world and make it their own.

Hi there bugbaby, Im not a Japanese but I live at Japan for 8 years now. Yes I really like there food, aside from sushi and sashimi. There food is so healthy, they dont use too much oil. I can also cook now some of there famous dishes. My favorite mazegohan or I can say mixed rice. You put chicken, shitake, carrots ...etc mixed with there famous soy sauce or mesuyu, then cooked the rice through rice cooker and done. Its so delicious. Now I can combine japanese dishes and my hometown dish. happy mylotting.

I used to hate Japanese food. I puked after eating sushi. But when my boyfriend introduced me to Japanese cuisine slowly, I found it enjoyable. (my mouth is watering right now) I'm craving for california maki. I'm not much a fan of tempura. I like the eggplant with sesame seeds on soy sauce. I forgot what it's called. I really love their sauce. Especially the mixed vegetables.
In our country, I love dining in Tokyo Tokyo since it's close to Filipino taste. I also enjoy eating in Teriyaki Boy, Tempura Grill.. I would love to go to Japan to eat Japanese goodies. ^^v
