Currently in the United States the topic of Stem Cell Research has reached epic proportions. People on both sides of the issue are making thier views known.
I am still not sure where I stand on it from a moral stand. It seems to come down to the old question as to when life actually starts. Is it at the moment of conception, or at a later point.
From a medical stand point it seems that the use of stem cells would help cure a lot diseases that we cannot cure. For example; Parkinson's, Diabetes, and Muscular Dystrophy.
This is a tough and personal issue to discuss especially since my nephew was given a 98% diagnoses with Luekodystrophy, a rare and very deadly form of Muscular Dystrophy.
I can't help but wonder if using stem cells would help him.
Any thoughts or comments on either side of the issue are most welcome.
Thank you

Thank you. From what I've learned and am still trying to learn, stem cells can actually take the place of the damaged or diseased cells when they are placed in the right place in the brain. The stem cells become healthy cells and repleace the diseased ones. I hope I have that right. The whole idea is still very, very, new and confusing to me and my family. It is a learning process with alot of different views and ideas.

I think anything that can help a person recover from whatever they suffer from is worth it. I hope all goes well or you and your family. :)
