Every once in awhile, I buy plain yogurt and add ingredients to it.

That way I can control the amount of sweetener and other ingredients that I add. I love to add honey, raisins or berries and nuts or sunflower seeds. Have you ever bought plain yogurt? Do you add things to it? What do you like to add to it? Do you find it to be cheaper and more to your liking?

You ought to try cutting up some cucumbers and adding a little mint to it - delicious! I also like to put plain yogurt over plain rice - also a yummy snack! Once I even put some browned & seasoned ground beef in it - not bad. Rice & the ground beef kind of tastes like a "fake" stroganoff! Of course, yogurt is delicious over a baked potato too!

All terrific suggestions.
I like mine with cut up cucumbers, too. I always forget that unless I drive by an India Indian Restaurant or read India India Recies. For some reason I have to have my memory reminded.
I didn't write about putting yogurt over things because I wanted to save that for another discussion. I like to put yogurt over wild greens that I've gathered. The combination makes me almost high. I have energy and I feel happy. Like the baked potato idea, I may have done that once.
I'm sure I've never put it in ground beef. Sounds like a great idea. Thanks and take care.

I prefer plain yogurt, the fat free kind. I did buy the fruit kind but they add Splenda to it and even that I do not like. So what I do is to add almonds, walnuts, maybe some pecans, red currents or strawberries, raspberries, or blueberries if I have some. I may also add sesame seeds and maybe flaxseed. Once I added rolled oats to the mixture. And if it is not sweet enough, I will add a little bit of honey. I do not add raisins to it and I find it is much better then buying the fruit kind.

We have a red current bush at the side of the house and usually we make jam out of it, but I figured it was so hard to make jam. I mean squashing all those tiny berries so I stored then in the freezer. Then I did not buy blueberries this year =planted a blueberry bush instead that is now starting to spread, so I figured that why not use the red currents instead. Flaxseed is good for you and that is no old wive's tale. http://flaxseed.naturallygreen.co.uk/
I have been adding flax seed to yogurt but I stopped for a while, so I am back on it again.

I haven't had pecans or red currents added in, but they sound like good ideas. My eye doctor wants me to add flaxseed to my diet, that may be one way to do it. He said at first, he thought flaxseed was just a wives tale, but so many people came in and said it made a major difference in their eye health that he wanted me to try. Oats are good, when I buy my yogurt at McDonald's they have rolled oats in it. I don't know why I never think to do that myself. Thanks and take care.

We grow raspberries and blackberries here. We can only have currents plants that are certified to not carry something that damages White Pines since they're a papermill tree (also some are OK for furniture). I want to get some blueberry bushes. Maybe next year. Thanks for the Flax info and take care.

Yogurt is just something I can't learn to like. I've tried it many times and different brands also. My husband buys Blue Bunny Light and eats it all the time right out of the container. He doesn't add anything. He eats it after dinner or before going to bed. Maybe it would taste better if I added a banana or strawberries.

You're not religious. OK.
Actually I love pork roast the best, but bacon is good stuff, too.
Yes, their parfait is supposed to be yogurt, but McD's yogurt doesn't seem like yogurt to me. Let me know when you're brave. Take care.

Try McDonald's yogurt, it doesn't even taste like yogurt, smooth and not sour at all. Plain yogurt without anything is very sour, most people, unless they like sour cream straight, aren't going to like that very well. Otherwise fruit mixed all through is good, but McD's doesnt even have the same texture as the rest. Take care and I have some foods I will never like no matter what they do to it. Cooked greens is one, my parents put vinegar and bacon, all kinds of things with it and I still disliked it (hope reference to pork doesnt' bother you), take care.

I've been buying plain yogurt lately too. First of all, it's cheaper and also I don't want all that corn syryp and stuff anymore. I add nuts and raisins, granola and good jelly.
The downside is I like to take it to work and have to take the time to mix it all up. Not a great deal of time used, but the convenience of having a small ready to go rather than the tupperware was nice.

Haven't added jelly and with all the jelly I make, you would think I would. Other than the stuff I've bought with granola, I haven't done it on my own, but I have added some kinds of cereal. I love nuts and raisins. Might do trail mix next. Thanks and take care.

Oh yeah, I do this because I have berry plants and I love to buy plain yogurt and make a "special" treat that you won't find in any store...I never tried it with nuts or seeds before, I will have to try that sometime..

Yeah, with berries from you own place is wonderful. I put nuts in as many things as possible. But Wow! Has the price gone up. I'll have to decide, nuts or cheese or meat soon. Thanks and take care.

I like vanilla yogurt with sliced strawberries and cereal in it. I'm not too particular about which kind of cereal I put in it: corn flakes, Wheat Chex, Cheerios, or whatever kind I've got. It's a very filling breakfast and healthy, too. I don't put in any sweetener.

Hi friend,
In our country eat yogurt rice is must.So everyday, morning and evening we have to take only plain yogurt with rice and some species as a side dish to eat.Generally here we prefer only plain yougurt rather than any other mixtures of it.
Have a nice day.
