I high school I participated in a ton of piano competitions. There were 3 festivals, not really big deal but good performance opportunities, and 2 or 3 scholarship competitions per year, plus 2 concerto competitions, but those were by tape or CD, not in person. I was 2nd two different times in scholarship competitions. It really all depends on what the judges favorite piece is I discovered. It's probably the most subjective competition out there. Because basically, if you and 3 other people all play your best, and the judge likes person A's piece better, they win. Often that has clearly been the deciding factor. Since I started college 2 years ago, I have not had a chance to compete much. For one thing I would have to travel from Ashland to Portland, basically the entire south to north length of the state of Oregon, not fun, and very costly these days. It would cost me over $70 to travel, so if I didn't win, I would be even worse off financially than I am already. So it isn't worth it anymore but I sure miss it.

Hello Daffodil. I have not taken part in any competition, but I have trained and taken my students for English speech competitions every year and we always win the first prize. I consider their success as mine as well because of my time spent helping train them for each of the competition. I am very proud of them.

yes i could really remember that moment and that was when i was in my sixth grade and there was this science quiz bowl for the whole region and our school entered it, i was not really into it because i was not expecting to really win since i am not the most intelligent in the class and much more i am not the first honor..but i still studied that time and during the exams i was just answering what i know and i am not even positive of what the outcome would be! But after a month the results came and i was placed second for the whole region!!!! it was unexpected and it was the moment that i could not forget because it seems so silly for me as well... but then i won but other than that i could not recall winning something that big except maybe those quizzes at school...hmmmm

Yes, since I was a kid until I graduated on high school whatever competition I am participating I always won. Even if sometimes I can't be on the top 1 but I am always one of the top 3. I am not that smart but maybe I was lucky. When I was on my senior year on high school we had a cheering competition, each group of our opponents were 80 members upto 100+, my group that I am instructed were only 43 members in it. But we still won, because we had the best performance and pyramids. I am about to share some of my cheering squad photos but it won't upload now. Maybe because I am only responding this post, and I am not the one who started the discussion.

hi daffodil! when i was still a student, i used to join competitions. those were dance contests, quiz bees, oratorical contests, and sports competition. i have won many of them even in group categories, me and my teammates won many of them. my favorite kind of contests are dance contests because i'm good at dancing. even now i'm working, i still dance. and last year during our Christmas party at the office, they held a little dance contest and me and my friends won it. ^__^ oh, i remember i also joined a cross-stitching and cooking contests too back in high school. i was an addict in cross-stitching and i won third place. as for the cooking contest, there was nobody to represent the school so they just picked anyone present. it was unfortunate that they choose me because i don't have any talent in cooking.

When I was in college, I participated in crossword puzzle competition in the papers. It wasn't easy and I need to look up words in the big dictionary in the library to complete it. I have won vouchers but nothing really big! I hope to win a car some day...

I just answered a similar question to this in another discussion. I have won a competition, I won a bottle of whisky. I was only ten years old at the time though so I wasn't allowed it, they had to give it to my dad. When we got home we wouldn't let me have any and I wasn't a very happy chappy at all!

YES,I have participated in many competitions in my life. sometime i won, sometime i lost. i like sports, such as pingpang, bastketball, football dance and so on. i dont care if i will won when i take part in competitions. But i will try my best to do. Even i lost, i would not be depressed. The most important is enjoying the sports that you love.

Putting in your best effort is the main thing.Winning and losing should be secondary because there can be only one or at the most three winners.
