voting for the environment in the Canadian election

The Canadian federal election is on Tuesday. I and millions of other Canadians will be going to the polls to choose the candidate who will represent us on the federal level. Our current Conservative government have been an embarrassment on the world stage. Canada has one of the worst environmental records in the world, and under a Conservative majority the situation will only get worse. Given that the northwest passage lies within Canadian borders, a threat to the environment means not only a threat to our food supply and our health but to our very sovereignty. An environmental group has put together a website for for people who live in key ridings to show who are the most likely candidates in those areas to oust the Conservative incumbent. http://www.voteforenvironment.ca/ Check out your riding by postal code. Vote with your smarts and ensure the best possible future for Canada and the rest of the world.

"Given that the northwest passage lies within Canadian borders," My understanding is that that is still open to debate, or has it been respolved? Anyway,I have been out of touch with Canadian politics for a little while, months ago, I could keep up with the bestof em, lol, but not thses days. I know Canadians DESPISE Harper almost as much as many Americans hate Bush. But I have to say, one of the smartest things he did was back out of the Kyoto treaty. I guess my question is, what is the issue with the northwest passage and the environment, besides the thought that it has opened due to "Global warming"?

Well the information is aimed at voters - I can discuss the issues in the Canadian election to non-Canadians here, but since they can't vote they can't really assist. Thank you for your comment, though.
