I am atheist myself and don't believe in any religion. But i have respect to many of them. I think religions learning good things and don't see reason why i must to be against them.
What i don't respect is some people who are using their religion authority against people.

That's the question even I have..Why can't people accept and respect other religions as well?
All religions are same but just different ways to reach the same goal...Why can't we first treat evry person as a human..I really feel sorry for whatever has been happeningin Orissa and apologise as another fellow Indian to you..
These people should be banned from the society and any kind of fundamentalism should be highly punished..
There's nothing such as minority ..its only in our thoughts..
have a nice day..

case 1:
i don't know what the 'orissa incident' was but i'm christian/Catholic as well, i believe in God and have faith, but lost my trust in the catholic church as a whole. looking at it from the catholic standpoint, which is the largest denomination of Christians, others have reason to not respect Christianity because of some confrontations with other 'radical' or 'hard-core' Christians/catholic. i've met some of those people and like people always say, a few bad ones can ruin the whole bunch. its pretty much like that.
case 2:
this backs up case one. its Christians who have no respect for other religions is why they don't have respect for Christians.
i grew up catholic, asking about other religions while in confirmation classes i was told that 'God is an envious God and all the other religions are just wrong' (actual words). That statement disgusted me. it made me think that Catholics were 'egotistical' in a way to think that they are the only 'true' religion. when doing research and reading we all know that Christianity is one of the younger religions meaning it hasn't been around that long. other religions have been around a lot longer then Christianity and to think that Christianity is the ONLY way to worship is a little egotistical right.
people have the right to worship as and whom they please. one god, many gods, i feel as long as they have faith in something weather it be a higher power or just themselves, they have the right to do so without any judgment. as Christians i know they say 'spread the good word' but not SHOVE IT DOWN SOMEONE ELSE'S THROAT. we should also know a 'true' christian knows that it is not our right to judge others but let the judgment come on their own on the next life. i've seen a good part of Christians display this frame of mind, but still the few bad ones voices are much louder then decent whole.

I am not a Christian but my family and boyfriend are Christians. I have nothing but love and respect for them. Because I am not a Christian and lean toward East philosophies such a Buddhism and Taoism I get disrespected and called out by many Christains who don't understand why people are drawn to other religions. I have friends from many backgrounds, nationalities, and religions. I respect them all but we all have a common story when it comes to being looked down upon by chrisitians.

I am a hindu but my best friend is a christian and the other person is a muslim! I have great respect towards them and their family and their religion.. I studied in a christian minority school and that is the place where I learnt to be friendly to all and respect everybody! Acceptance is something that we should create

I'm not a member of any mainstream religion, but since I do believe there are many things out there beyond the material world, and beyond this life, I wouldn't count as an atheist either.
I don't respect all religions, but I definetly respect the PEOPLE that practice them. The ideas they follow might seem useless and even funny to me, but even so, I find all of us should have a clean open space where we can believe whatever we choose to believe.
I think that the highest form of disapproval of another religion should be to just walk away from the 'infidels', and NOBODY should do anything worse than that.
Don't preach, don't try to convert, definetly do NOT use violence of any sort, just do your good work elsewhere, if you don't like the beliefs of your fellow man.
The more people use this kind of tolerance, the more variety and freedom we will have.
Peace:)

Yes, I have no problem with people having different religions as mine. I am a practicing Roman Catholic, and I have several friends who are not Roman Catholic, we get along fine.
But I couldn't really forget one incident in our office a few months ago. It was a shocker for me because I never thought it could happen.
Well, it was around noon when my officemates and I were chatting about funny things, when suddenly one of my officemates' friends came by to chat with her. At first, they talked in her cubicle silently then suddenly, I noticed my friend sounded upset and sat in our lobby area, the guy followed her and insisted on something. I didn't quite get what he meant. The next thing I knew, he was publicly telling us that we were following a blind and unintelligent religion. Yep, the word was 'blind and unintelligent religion' and he was there to 'free' us from our 'stupidity'. The next thing I knew, he was debating with several of my officemates (we were around 5 then including the guy). He was telling us that we were wrong to be following so blindly because only those who was in his religion would be saved! And that he was a Roman Catholic before and was happy he left.
To make the long story short, the debate didn't end very nicely. Because he was literally driven out. But before doing so, I spoke up and told him that like any other thing, one must never insist on something most especially if it insults another. God didn't create us to insult our brothers and sisters, and there is nothing you can do to ever 'change' a person, it is by free-will.
That was a very shocking day because I never thought that could ever happen. I've always known that there were factions when it came to religion, but having been told that I was ignorant for following unintelligently?! That was a direct insult to my education and humanity. Preaching is 'sharing' it's not 'insulting' and 'forcing'.

I respect other religion as long as they won't bother other religions. I mean, as long as the religions work in harmony and not fighting each other. It's really about respect. As the basic rule goes "Love your neighbor as you love yourself." [ i donnu if i got that right]
To be frank, i consider myself spiritual, not religious. I'm a roman catholic and will be a roman catholic since i was just born with it. But it doesn't mean i'm into organized religion.

I am a Christian but i guess the religion isn't really a big issue. It is what you believed in. If you're born Christian but then not doing the teachings you're as good as Agnostic. Jesus followers are humble people, those defensive Christians are righteous ones. There's nothing wrong with being righteous but if it becomes insult to other beliefs, the teaching of Jesus is no longer applied. I think you are what you believe, you are what you think and if you just think of the meaning of Christianity, you'd value the word RESPECT in its deeper meaning.

you gave two different case studies. the whole problem with religions is that they hold to what they believe as true and all others are untruth.
orissa incident did not happen overnight. there was enough provocations from christian missionaries and equal number of threats from the other side. when one is clear about the fact that nothing happens without a cause, blaming the other just for the heck of publicity will only add fuel to fire.
christian missionaries did distribute books deriding the hindu gods and goddesses. is this how christians spread their faith? when the whole foundation is based on illwill and misinformation, why should christian missionaries be protected from attack? in some ways i feel they deserved it.
what has been taught in most christian institutions are bad things, which shows their own character. when they do indulge in such activities, how can they say they are not responsible for whatever happened? running with hare and hunting with the wolf's has been the habit of christian missionaries. they cry fowl when their nefarious activities are made public.
I studied in a christian institution where i came in contact with these kinds of misinformation and i have always been able to prove that christianity is based on falsehood. they never could counter many things i said. problem is that all converts feel they are still from the same lower strata of society as the targets of missionaries are those of lower strata. that has gone deep into the psyche of many neo-converts. this is a deep psychological problem which the church is unable to handle rightly. recently the bishop of Trivandrum issued a order that christians should have atleast 4 children as the population is falling rapidly. can you see the destructive mentality he displayed while issuing such an order. this is not an isolated case. it is being happening in all other religions. this statement was issued with illwill at heart.
if the governments concerned start dividing resources equally according to the percentage of population, minorities will not even get a decent pie for their development. infact, christians should be happy that they did get good fund allocation despite objections. being ungrateful is what chrisitianity. that is how they have behaved so far.
respecting others is a tradition with indians. this seems to be lacking in christianity, which is a fact. jealousy is another factor common to most of the missionaries. they just cant stand the fact that inspite of all their efforts, people see jesus as just another man.
Mahatma Gandhi once said " I like christ,I do not like your christians. Your christians are so unlike your christ." How true. You cant find fault with what he said. Root of the problem lies with christians themselvs.

I do respect other religion. After all we all belong to the same race-THE HUMANS. The religion, caste, creed it's all that we made. I strongly beleive that God is one so do all of us. I always respected other religions and infact wanted to learn certain unique things about each religion.Every religion preaches just good things in their own styles.
Cheers :)

I`m more of a spiritual but not religious person, but i respect others for their beliefs and i actually try to understand many different religions. Believing in something is a great thing, it helps you have a reason to live another day and enjoy your life.

the word religion means believe.
Now its really worry to say that people r doing comments on other religions
but they didt know that every religion ve there deep deep study and expriences
and every religion on earth ve the effiecieny to prove thereself
with my idea didt take any religion as much as that people get ur religion as much that then u ll b sad with there behavior
cos law is that ,that every action ve the reaction

I am a Catholic and I respect other religions. For me, we all believe the same supreme being. Religion differences should not be the cause of disrespecting other people. It's just like being a racist. We should respect what they believe in. We are all equal under the eyes of God .

I have always respected other people's belief. I am also a Christian. Here in the Philippines Christianity is very much respected. A minority of Filipinos are Muslims and they live in Mindanao. Even though we have different beliefs I respect what they do and what they teach. Even the president, legalized the Muslim Holidays as Regular Holidays. I believe that they also need to be with their family during their holy days.
