I read an article in a British newspaper today that suggests that within a decade UK society will be feminised as each year a higher percentage of women enter professions that men have historically had a majority in. Medicine, Law, Accountancy, even the clergy! In 10 years time I shall be 60. I've already fulfilled my biological purpose - I fathered a girl! So what should I do. Is there a nice place that I can quietly be put out of my misery (not that I regard being surrounded by women as miserable. Far from it). But what exactly is my purpose going to be?

My comment isn't about women but what use will men, me specifically, be in the brave new world Sheepie. In fact I agree with you 100%. I'm all for women doing and achieving more in the work place. Leave us men to do what we do best - can't quite remember what that is just now! LOL.

Same as always, washing, ironing, cleaning and looking after the females in your family. Don't forget takig the rubbish out and doing the gardening. See there's lots for you to do.

Oh P1key ... there are PLENTY of things for you to do! You can still peel grapes, can't you? And wave a fan? And dance? We need to watch men dance. And you could always father some more girls if you wanted to be hyper-productive. In the meantime, enjoy your women ... at the moment we still tolerate men sharing the planet with us, so make the most of it!

You do realise, don't you, that actually the world has always been run by women. It's only that recently, we have been allowed to be seen doing so! I'm sure we could still find a place for men. Perhaps we shall keep you as pets or to entertain high flying ladies at dinner parties and whathaveyou.

I think that I am already a pet Pumpkin. I've been known to entertain at the odd dinner party too. Just throw me the occasional biscuit and perhaps a cup of tea occasionally. Unless you see that as my role to do for you in the future. I'm used to slavery too!! LOL.

I think it's about time we stop looking for our purposes in life within organizations that depend on other people. In the background I'm hearing Frank Sintra's MY WAY. You live your life your way. Sounds like you've had some interesting experiences. Why not write a book?

Somebody will still need to be there to listen to all of these women complaining about something p1kef1sh so I wouldn't be too concerned about it.
But just to be on the safe side I suggest that you spend the next 10 years watching and re-watching episodes of Oprah as a back up. If all of this fails I understand that Antarctica is one of the better options. I may just see you there myself! We shall see.....

Little man, your purpose will be what it has always been. To bow at the feet of these women, and give them a nice foot rub.![](/Content/images/emotes/wink.gif)

Will you be fighting each other or someone else. No hair pulling please. Very unladylike. Message me when you're ready. Does this involve me visiting the wilds of Lancashire or somewhere equally oop North where we softy southerners tremble at the thought of Tetley Bittermen (that's Yorkshire I think). Goodie's still unwell but she's hanging on to her sense of humour. I'll send your love next time I'm in the chicken shed.

if this is true... well, i'll pack up my tent now and camp in mars. just kidding.=p
i'm 20. in a couple of years i will enter the rat race to do something i think as of the moment i will enjoy. i'm really not worried that women will dominate the workforce; i think their dominance is inevitable actually, with all the good work traits they usually have (tidiness, ability to stick to the rules, patience, etc.). and i enjoy their company too. but i don't think that they will completely dominate the workforce either. men will always be integral to any industry, because of their own associated traits (risk-takers, etc.).
anyway, that article only reports on a TREND. a trend can change: so many things can happen from now until the end of the decade. so don't worry. i'm sure we will still have our places on this big small world in the future.

Of course you are right Solaris. Men will continue to feature highly in the workplace. The article suggests that there are more women entering the major professions than ever before. I don't think that we will see an end to men, but there may be a more even balance of the genders in certain specialisms. Welcome to myLot.

Wow, now that is interesting. You could always start a only men's club like they used to have a long time ago where woman weren't allowed in..Or go fishing, hunting and camping manly things.Although now days I see woman hunting fishing and camping with the best of them. Or you could sit back enjoy all the attention you will be getting from of the woman.

It is now your purpose in life to serve as an example to others..........good or bad, it's up to you. :)
It's also your purpose in life to annoy your daughter and your wife as much as possible, if my Dad's anything to go by. ;P
(please don't tell him I said that)

Piky, you seem to refer to yourself as being put out to graze !!your purpose in life is what you intend to make it..and your destiny is in your own hands. It is becoming clear that there are many women now climbing to the top of the ladder, and I have read in many articles that men find powerful woem a little bit scary.Power is fine as long as it does not all add up to an over inflated ego along with it.We all need to have a leader, whether it be in the workplace or the home environment,a leader is a vital part in life.Working along the lines of Chiefs and indians here..So in ten years time I will be sixty three!!and lol where do I see myself..if I can be reasonably content ,escape any major trauma or illness..then I will see myself as being a very lucky woman!Your daughter is still relatively young, she will go on to marry, then you will gain an extended family,a son in law..who lol you may or may not care for ..and then you will become a Grandpa!!WOWWWOWand then another purpose for living is created. But as long as you can be relatively happy within your own skin,do not ask for great things, and accept each day as it comes along, take the rough with the smooth and the good with the bad..you will be fine my fish .

I'm not sure that I'm scared of powerful women Ruby. I'm surrounded by them. Grandpa P1ke. Now there's a thought. Mind you, the way she's feeling about boys right now I suspect that it's going to be a while! I try to be happy and I am mostly. I don't really mind whether women are dominant in the professions or not. More power to them. I'm just trying to plough my new little furrow. Good to see you by the way.

hmm i don't know, if i was you i'd just enjoy being surrounded by women! If it all gets too much for you and you feel the needto hide away you can always come to the nursing home i'll probably have ended up working in by then - i'd make sure you got all the nicest menu options and fluff your pillows for you!! xxx

Hey there. One other thing to do would be - to make sure that your daughter gets a good strong man to her side, to stand tall and proud amidst the whole feminisation issue, emo kids, economical problems and all that :D
Besides it can't be that bad, those percentages you see in the newspapers aren't growing in a straight line, they will grow as much as they grow, and then stabilise and society will move on as it always has.
Personally I think the future, the next 10 years, will be amazing ones, unlike anything we've ever seen in history, so I'm looking forward to it :)
