What are you thinking about electronic devices for kids? Do you think portable game devices, computers, tv's and dvd's are helping for your kids education. What electronic devices you find are good for your kids and what are bad. In my opinion such a big amount of electronic devices don't help to educate our kids. But must to tell that my kids watching tv, playing psp, nintendo and using computer. They are aloud to do it for an hour and a half every evening but as priveledge. If they are good all day i let them to do it if they are not they must to read a book. What about you? What is your opinion about this?

It depends on the electric device if it was a game boy then it would not be educational but, if it was a calculator then that would be educational lol.

I think that kids can get a certain amount of education from computers and television. There is a math website that my son's teacher actually encourages them to "play" at. Some television shows can be educational. I think there should be a time limit on the amount of technology kids are exposed to though. I tell my son sometimes he has to find something to do the at does not require electricity for awhile every day.

When my kids were little, they would watch Barney videos and programs like that. They learned so much from them, that I didn't mind them watching. It taught them everything from letters and colors to manners. My daughter got a Leapster when she was 5 and it is a great educational game. It has math and reading on it. At first she was doing the games that were matching and letters, and simple math. As she got older, we just bought her games appropriate for her age. It is now harder math, reading, and spelling. I see no harm in her playing with this as it is helping her learn. Now if a child is sitting in front of a video game just playing it an not learning anything, I would definitely limit the time on there.
