Have you ever experienced waking up in the wee hours of the morning because you heard someone knocking? What did you do? Did you get up from bed and checked who was on the door? Or, did you just let the knocking go on and wished that person would get tired of knocking and would just come back when you wake up?
My bedroom's door is always closed when I sleep but I do not lock it so that if my mom or younger sister would come in, they can open the door without knocking. So I do not really have to worry about that. However, if the knocking is on the main door, well, if it doesn't sound like there's an emergency, I would not get up just to check it out. Besides, none of us at home gets home at that time. How about you guys?

Hi dolc_vita,
If someone is knocking at time time, its a bit scarey, but if the whole family is in I would wake everyone up and go to the door without opening it ask who it is, because you never know who is standing behind the door, if someone is asking for help get everyone slightly open the door, it could just be a neighbour who had locked himself out of his house, still you have to be careful.

Second discussion about knocking I've responded to in five minutes! Mrghill just started one about the delivery man knocking while a person's in the bathroom. LOL
Anyway, I live in a (suppodly) secure building, so it's not knocking I hear, rather the bloody door buzzer in the middle of the night. When the thing busses, I pick up my phone and call the polce. The station is right behind me, and I inform them that there's someone up there, probably drunk, pushing on the buzzer buttons and harassing the building. They deal with it right away.

LOL! That's really a different way of handling such situation. I mean, if the person do not really have intention of harassing the building... I wonder how he would explain the situation to the police.

Hi dolce,
When I was working and single, I live in an apartment where friends go home anytime they want...LOL! SO, we really expect anyone bothering us by steps but we have our own keys so, we will not really be standing to open the door but it's irritating sometimes since the giggles and the steps will always wake us up! LOL!

I have never experienced anyone knocking on my door in the wee hours of the morning because I never lock my door. They just come inside and get what they want. Cheers!!

I had this experience about a year ago. Me and my boyfriend lived with his father at the time and his father had been out of town for weeks so it was just us. About 4am we woke tothe dog barking. Then hear loud BANGING on the door. I freak out and tell him to go check it out. It was the neighbor coming to tell us he caught these guys stealing thir compressor they ues for work from the trailor and that he drove after them but lost them. I was freaked because he was banging so loud and crazy on the door I didn't know if someone was hurt or someone was trying ot break in.

I would be looking out the window first to see who was outside the door at that hour. And if I didn't know them I'll talk thru the door to see what they want. I'm rarely afraid though - I have a nice large german shepherd who is wonderful protection. More than likely he would already be barking at that time and the person would have left. LOL

I used to have some crazy friends years ago who would knock
on my door or my bedroom window all hours of the night to
wake me up to let them in. I hated it! They wouldn't stop
until I got up and let them in! That was a very long time
ago. If someone would do it now it really would scare me
because no one comes over without calling. So I would know
that it was someone knocking on the wrong door or it was
some kind of emergency in the neighborhood. My boyfriend
is here now and he probably would be more scared then I
would! He's not used that used to my neighborhood yet. He's
only been here about 8 months.

I do get up from bed when someone knocks the door because its impossible here that someone will knock your door on the wee hours. My mom and dad sleep early as well as my brothers and sisters.

If someone was knocking at my main door I would wake my husband and send him down to check the situation out. Otherwise I would look out the window and see if I see any one outside or any cars in front of the house. I know I would be frightened but also curious. I live on a lane and no one travels it except for the few families that live on it. I would have to make sure that it was not a neighbor needing help.

My room has a window that overlooks our front door. If I hear a knock on the front door, i would peep through the window and see who is knocking. If I know the person, then I would open the door. If not, I will actually call up to him/her and ask who he/she is and what his/her problem is. If there is a knock on my bedroom door, I usually open it since my folks and the other people in our house would never disturb my sleeping unless it is very important.

I experienced this a few weeks ago... but it was not very early in the morning... but still early for my standards... my sister-in-law and her daugther were knocking on the front door of our apartment... at first i thought it was just nothing or that there were some activities outside... but when they persisted and started calling out my name... i was forced to stand and ope the door...
They came to bring breakfast for my daughter... and they thought that since it was already 7 in the morning... i we would be wide awake...
