Do you always leave conditioner on your hair long enough?

Sometimes, when I'm taking a shower,
I get so impatient that I wash out
my conditioner before it's had a chance
to work.
And, then the next day my hair is limp
and lifeless.
I should wait for five minutes and let the
conditioner work, but sometimes, I don't.
Do you always leave your conditioner in your
hair long enough for the recommended time?

I have a routine when I take a shower. First wash hair and face, then rinse, add conditioner, and wash the rest of my body. Then, shave whatever needs shaving, and finally rinse off (hair included)
This way my hair always gets enough time with conditioner in it!
Huh, I didnt even know I had a shower routine till i read this discussion!

I am sure I never leave it in long enough. I wash my hair when I am taking a shower and even though I wash my hair first so I can put the cream rinse in before I wash everything else so it has some time before I am done. But it never takes me very long to wash myself and then I rinse off and rinse my hair last. I really don't think I leave it in long enough to make any difference other than maybe holding down the static a little. I know it does at least that because if I don't use cream rinse at all my hair is nothing but static.
I used to use stuff that you left in your hair but it got costly and I was having financial problems then and couldn't afford it anymore. But now that things are better for me, I think I will have to start using it again. I can't remember which one I used but I am sure that I can find some good stuff at a hair salon. I forgot about it till now, so thanks for this discussion.

Because of my poor balance I stay standing in the shower only long enough to get clean. I don't even use conditioneer, half the time. I just shampoo my hair, wash my body, turn the water off, and get out of there before I slip on the floor and crakc my head open.

My balance is bad also, that is why I do not shampoo my hair in the shower, because as soon as I close my eyes from the soap, I will definitely fall.

I usually wash my hair and then put the conditioner in my hair. Then I wash my face so that takes up about a minute or more and then I just kind of give it a few more seconds before I rinse it out for good measure. I think most conditioners say leave on for at least a minute so I think I've hit the minute mark. I figure there's no point in wasting water while waiting for the conditioner to set so I make sure to wash my face while I'm waiting.

I am not sure whether I am right, but I think that if I can let the conditioner on my hair for a longer time, the result will be better. This is why I will try to keep it longer time. After I wash hair, I will put the conditioner on my hair. After that, I will have a bath. And then finally I will wash my hair again. So I think the conditioner has stayed on my hair for about 20 minutes.

I don't use conditioner so I don't have that problem. Besides, if my hair is limp and lifeless it doesn't bother me that much, I just comb it and go
Five minutes seems like a long time to just be waiting for conditioner to work. Seems like a lot of water wasted

And, yet that's what all the ladies
are doing! Wasting water just to look
pretty.

Come on, now! You know that's just an
excuse to spend a guy's money.
Women don't actually "need" any of that stuff.

No I comb it in and rinse it out. I do not leave it it as long as it says to I do not have time to sand in the shower that long. I also get board in the shower waiting for my conditioner to do its thing.

I dont leave conditioner in my hair for long, I rub it into my hair and then rinse it out. I should leave in it for longer but most of the time I'm having a quick shower before work so I am rushing about so that I can get ready and do other stuff before leaving the house!!

Right now my fiance and I are using Head and Shoulders, which is a combo of the two. I know that when I used both I often didn't like to wait, but then I got into a trend, I believe, of doing that first, then my body second so it could be rinsing as I washed, and then while my body was rinsing, I could make sure it was all out of my hair. If you don't like doing that, then why not try the "leave in conditioner" so that you don't have to rinse it! If I'm not mistaken, I think you can use "leave in conditioner" even if your hair is dry, or do it while your hair's still wet but not sopping wet, and then towel dry / dry it however you do.

Yes, with my hair, I will leave the conditioner on my hair for two to three minutes. The time that it says to leave it on my hair. I want to make sure that it is doing its job in repairing my hair. I love using conditoner. I love to also sit under the heat dryer for about 15 minutes. I love doing deep conditioning on my hair!

I always leave it in for about 3-5 minutes. I usually wash my hair as soon as I get into the shower and then I put conditioner in my hair. So I make sure I let it sit long enough I clean my body and shave my legs or whatever whil ei let the conditioner sit in my hair, then I rinse.

I try to leave it in long enough, but sometimes, I'll rinse it out almost immediately after putting it through my hair. My hair doesn't get limp or lifeless, but I do notice that my scalp doesn't feel as soft or clean if I don't use the conditioner correctly.

so that it would stay in your hair for at least 5 minutes, why not put it on as you begin to take a bath. and rinse it after you have washed your body. and if you are taking a quick shower, put on a cap to sink in the conditioners nutrients into your hair.

I leave my conditioner in for about 2 minutes, never had a problem in regards to the life of my hair but I have never had the patience to leave it in any longer to see the difference.

Not really. I try to, but it is difficult sometimes. I try to put my conditioner in first and do all the rest of my cleaning so that it can stay in as long as it should.

It depends what mood i'm in. If i'm in a hurry I will very rarely wait for the conditioner to take effect however if i've got time to burn i'll take my time and enjoy it. Sometimes leaving conditioner in for up to about 10 minutes at a time.
Hair always feels much softer and full of life when i've used a conditioner on it. It's a noticeable difference so try hard as I can to make time to use it properly.

I've got the system lol
I always wash my hair first, then put the conditioner on, then soap myself, wash myself, scrub myself and everything that needs to be done lol and that takes more then 5mins so voila my conditioner is on for 5 minutes
I have to leave it on, I have long hair, I wouldnt be able to brush it otherwise.
