Went shopping yesterday, bought some accessories from a gift shop, the shop was quiet at that moment, I'm at the counter to make payment, the young lady cashier packed my purchase in a small paper bag, and I made the payment. She collected the money and push a button to open the cash register machine without entering the purchase I made, and gave me my change, I look at her and ask her for a receipt. She gave me a rude stare and take out the things I purchased and key in the cash register, then she gave me a receipt. Wow..she was very rude..if you were in my position, what would you do?

right after i got my receipt i would have gone straight to a manager and made a complaint. the cashiers are the "face" of the store after all, and if you want to have your business looked well upon, then those employees (especially cashiers..the final face of the store we usually see, therefore the lasting impression) MUST be polite, well mannered, they dont have to be bubbly and over the top happy, but they at the very least must be pleasant! next time, make a complaint.

Hi Cinder, Yes, indeed, I did complaint to the person in charge there, but, dramatically, you know what happen? The cashier was fired by the boss. Not because she was being rude to me..it was because she was trying to cheat the money, cause in the very beginning she never entered my purchase into the cash register, was because she actually intend to keep the money for herself, that's what the boss said..I guess this was not the first time, and he had a strong suspicion against her..Anyway, I feel so sorry, and sad...

oho!! then it is a GOOD thing that you made a complaint! dont feel bad, she was skimming the till and knew she was in the wrong. she made the decision to steal of her own free will, and therefore deserves the consequences.

I would have made a poliet comment to the manager or something, I usualy like to give people the benifit of the doubt sometimes. Unless it is something that happens regulary or I have seem them act this way with other customers I will asume that they are just having a bad day or something. I like to tell them to have a nice day or something to lighten up there day and hopefuly rectify their mood.

I don't think I have ever shopped anywhere in the last 30 or so years anyway where they would not give a receipt of some kind. I cannot imagine a store not having some kind of way to key in the item purchased. But then if it was a small mom and pop store, they might not have the technology. But in that case receipts are usually handwritten. I remember before all this computerized checkout the hardware store in our town would hand write everything we purchased on a little statement book and we got our receipts that way. Back in those days, the cash registers only printed out receipts with the amounts on them and not what the purchases were. If this store you shopped at had the technology for the receipt, she should have done it the right way. She might have been doing that to all her shoppers and been overcharging and keeping the extra herself.
