What would you do if you find something that you did not buy...

included in your grocery bag? This happened to me a couple of times. Both instances, the item was not on my grocery receipt but was included in my bag. The first time, I found a block of cheese, which I returned to the store the next day. The second time, I couldn't return it. As much as I wanted to. I bought the items in one province and found out that I had something included in my bag after I got home. (It would take me a plane ride to return it. Lol.) So I had no choice but to keep it. Has this ever happened to you? and what did you do about it?

As long as I get what I wanted to buy, I just look at the xtra stuff as freebies. But one time when I went thru drive up to have my groceries loaded I didn't look what cart they grabbed. It wasn't until I got home that I realized that all of the groceries weren't mine. LOL So I took them back and there sat the other lady with my cart, waiting for her groceries to come back to her.

Haha... Poor lady. It's a good thing she stayed there and waited for you to come back. I wonder... what if you didn't return Tesswhite?

Hi Roque... That's worse! Paying for something that you didn't get. I think you should have informed the grocery's customer service regarding that. Especially if it was something expensive.

Never had that kind of experience yet.Well if that happens I'll double check if they charge me for that certain item if not then it's FREE.That's why I stay beside the cashier to check the items.

Hehe... Free stuff. Sometimes I'm too busy talking to my fiance or whoever I'm with to check if the right things are going to the right place.

It's good that you've never had my dilemma my friend. At least you don't have to return anything or decide if you'll even return it. Lol.

It depends on where I was when I noticed it. If I was still in the store then I would return it. But if I had already left the store then I wouldn't bother, especially if my oldest son was with me. With him being autistic it could be difficult to try to return something that I didn't buy.

Having something extra in my grocery bags... that never happen. But having some extra items in my receipt, that was the worst day for me... I couldn't figure out what was it as all the stuff I bought are all under the price of $50... and there came $98... I'm so piss!!!

Well, sometimes not most of the time.. But I don't returned the item to the grocery store since I don't much time to go there and returned it.. I'll just keep it.. And besides it is not my fault why it includes there..

True. We did not steal the item so it's not exactly our fault if it's included in our grocery bag.

I got a whole bag of things that weren't mine, but I didn't know until I got home. Three hours away. Too far to go back and so I kept it. There was cleaning supplies, accent seasonings, salt. It funny to see what other people buy.

Well lucky for you! I agree we should return things that might have been accidentally placed inside our shopping bags but of course if it would cause us a lot of trouble then it could be acceptable that you keep it. If i am the company that had that lost and you were from a far place, I'll just let it go because it might be more trouble for both parties.

I would most likely return it to the store, but if the cashier put it in my bag and if I didn't notice it until I got home I might consider keeping it.

at present no incident like that happened to me.bu one of my oficemates had the experience and i want to share it to you guys. She bought sandals from from a department store here in Alabang Philippines. As i could remember the brand name was Rusty Lopes. She bought a size 8.When she reached her apartment and opened the shoe(well, sandalas)box,it has a pair of sandals in size 8 and an unpaired one in size 6.looks like the sales lady forgot to remove te display sample. The next day,she told us(her officemates)what happened.Stores well, department stores here in the Philippines allows customers to return and ask fo an exchange for goods bought with defects or wrong sizes within 7 days if you were able to keep the receipt. To make the long story short, one of our guy officemates asked for the unpaired sandal, took her receipt(with her consent ofcourse) and went back to the mall, not to return the mechandise but to ask for its partner. The customer did not ask anthing and willingly gave it to him.He ended up giving the sandals (whisch is already a pair now) to his girlfriend.Talk about honesty right?

Haha... Lucky friend of yours. I think the sales person thought that she/he did not include the pair that's why she/he gave the other shoe to your friend. The girlfriend's luckier. She received a free pair of shoes.

if i understand you fery well you sound like all this items you never paid for them? if you never paid for them why return them to the store? you should consider that as your gift from no one.thats your gift for time you take to go to the store. i never return those kind of items, infact i am always looking to get those, not like i wanna steal them or something.God doesn't give gifts with his hand

Yep. There were some items that I didn't pay for. Well, I guess I returned the first because I didn't really feel comfortable keeping something that I didn't pay for. haha.

I think this has happened to a lot of us from time to time. I find you also have to check your receipts to make sure you get everything as well. We once were charged double for something and the only way to get the Refund back on our card was to go back to the store we bought the item from. So I guess the only thing a person should do in either case, is watch as their items are rang up, and then double check the items and then the receipts as well before leaving to make sure everything adds up as well.

I have never had that happen, I would like to say that I would return it but if it was from a store in another town, I know that I wouldnt. Im not gonna waste gas or my time for their mistake. I dont understand how something would get into a bag that was not on the conveyor belt either. Assuming they have a conveyer belt like us that is. In the end I might or might not return it depending on the circumstances.

Well, i've met the same situtation. When the store is near from my house,i choise to return it to the store at once.however, when the store is far away, just like you the second time, i keep it. "the item is not on my grocery receipt but is included in my bag",it's not my fault. i don't have to pay money and time for it.

rosedust82 I have had that happen a few times and I did not bother to return the items as it would have cost me more than the price of the item to return it,and I dont have extra money to toss around.specially as most times it turns out I am the one missing an item which probably' landed in someone elses bag. turn about is fair play.

If I'm able to then I return the item to the store. There was one time that I couldn't return the item and that's because it fell out of the bag and broke.
