I'm almost sure of it. Shigeru Miyamoto wants children to send their arch-enemies, along with their children, to a fiery death, so that there is no one to take revenge later. Roman style. Not only that, but he wants the enemies to barely survive, only to be swallowed in an imploding, stelliform Hell. For all eternity. Probably. He also wants children to drop acid (like him when he designs his games) and have a misguided understanding of astronomy. Now kids will think that "Lumas" can become stars, galaxies, or planets after eating a lot of star bits. That taste like honey. What the f***. Well, Bowser and his son do come back at the end of Super Mario Galaxy, after aforementioned burning in the aforementioned Hell, but Mario didn't know that when he sent them to their fiery doom that that crazy anorexic chick would show up and protect them all from the imploding galaxy (which makes absolutely no sense at all). Mario wanted Bowser to meet his end in the inferno. And, whoops! There goes his son. Into the inferno.
