The prettiest words or sounds are the ones that come out of a babies mouth. I love to listen to a baby when they first discover that they can make sounds. It is so soft and you really have to listen to hear it. To me that is the most beautiful sound that there is.

I remember that from when my kids were little. I loved it!
I watch a set of 9 month old twins and they are just starting to talk all the time...it is sooo cute. Don't you just wonder what they are saying?
What a precious time, enjoy it while it lasts.

One really great thing I did with my kids when they were babies was to hold them close to my face (or even forhead to forehead) and make a humming sound. The baby will eventually make a humming sound as well, then you match the sound that he or she makes. If you keep playing this game with your baby as they get older, they will eventually match your tone. (When they get older) Now my kids are 8 and 14 years old and they can play musical instruments by ear. My son is in the marching band and plays trombone. He is very good. Both of my children play guitar and recorder ( a kind of wooden medieval whistle) and my daughter is interested in playing harp. They also sing well. I often think that the reason is the early tonal play that we engaged in.

That is such a wonderful stage. My niece is a bit of 12 months old and she is starting to say full sentences now. I love to listen to her. She still gets excited and says things that are not quite understood but it is still wonderful. Encourage your child.
