By general maintainence I'm referring to disk cleanup to remove temporary files, removing old programs that you no longer use and the such. So many people don't realize that by doing so they can increase the speed of their computers.
I have friends that have no idea how to do any of these simple tasks.
How about it? How many mylotters actually maintain their computers on a regular basis?

I do it regularly on my computer. My anti-virus actually does it for me. Good tip though.

Keep up the good work, hermitcrabheaven! Sounds like you have a good anti-virus running on your system.

I do a general tune-up to my desktop and laptop every 2 or 3 months. This includes: hard drive defrag, disk cleanup, removing temp files, optimizing the Windows registry and optimizing the programs that will remain installed.

Good job, maverick! Even though I, personally, do my clean-ups more frequently, the whole point here is that you know what needs to be done.

I think it's my routine work for my computer every day.My disks is not very big as well as the ram.If I don't do the cleaning and optimization after serveral days. The computer performance will degrade evidently. So it's my daily task.

Good for you, tisty! With a smaller system it's probably necessary to clean it up more often. On my smallest computer I'll notice it slowing down rather quickly. But since I don't use it very often I tend to forget when I did what.
Thanks for your response.

I have a program, infact is an anti-virus that cleans from temporary files to unsed files but i am not sure if it removes files which remain on the systemroot folder after i've unistalled a certain program but up to so far it is doing a great job for mee, atleast i don't have to do it manually

That's great, loxion. Anything helps and if it works for you then all the better. People don't realize how important it is to get rid of unwanted programs and folders.
Thanks for responding.

I clean up the temp files folder once a week, and delete old/unnecessary/unused programs or files that I have (the larger, the more attention I give to deleting it) whenever I think my drive's memory capacity is going low (even tho I have 160GB storage, lol)
It is a good way to keep your computer's speed up and also you never know when there is a virus or spyware in that temp folder of yours! Always be cautious, it's best to wipe it clean

Your absolutely right, Temma. Just keeping it cleaned up will keep things running smoothly.
Thanks for you input!!
