Haha...I used to be terrible with that.
Lucky for me, I'm a guy, and have an insane metabolism, so I'm allowed to just eat anything I want...I think I lived off Kraft Dinner for like 2 months in first year of university...and I snack a lot. But considering that it'll eventually catch up to me, and I was sick of eating crap all day, I'm quite a bit better now.
Maybe you should just try low calorie or healthy snacks. I mean, for me, sometimes you just want to eat, it doesn't really matter what it is. If you eat celery sticks by themselves, you'll actually be losing calories :P, but getting a lot of fibre.
Carrot sticks, grapes, fruits, although fruits are sugary, so that may be a concern.
Get all the junk snacks out of your house and fill it with healthy foods...snack on cereal.

lol i just eat for the sake of it to be honest sometimes, i love fruit but i will just sit and eat a whole punnet of strawberries or grapes, or like 4 bananas, etc etc, so is it really that good for me lol, im a big eater with a big appetite, though there are times if i really try it like my stomach shrinks after 2 or 3 days and i can eat smaller meals and be satisfied.
but thenn either someone will cook something i really like, or i will, and then ill be back to stuffing my face with wateve food i can find lol

Nice that you know this is a bad habit. Now develop an urge to stop this. I too had this bad habit at younger age. I stopped it to a greater extent. One of my ways was not to go near the snacks.
During schooldays friends would always laughed at me because of this habit. Those were hurting and felt like a joker among the pack. That was the main reason for taking steps to stop it.
