We have all volunteered in one sense or another, whether it be giving away clothing that no longer fits to offering our time.
I have volunteered with children, abuse victims and new commers and the rewards are plenty. Some include;
- A wonderful feeling of making a difference.
- You forget your personal issues and we all have.
- Recognition
- Marketable training for a rewarding career in social/community service, nursing, politics etc.

That is definitely a great way to volunteer!
I'd have to agree that the training you receive in volunteering is useful for getting jobs. I've had so many jobs where I can say, "Oh yeah, I know how to do that... I learned that volunteering with blah blah blah." Like when I had a job where I was going to be doing booths at an event, and I told them that is a piece of cake for me because I'm so used to setting up adoption events. The lady was shocked and if they company didn't nearly go down maybe I would have still been there.
I also make sure to always give away my clothing, I never throw it out unless it has actually worn out.
