what is disk cleanup?

i was trying to clean my computer up and i deleted temp internet files and ran the crap cleaner and defraged it and all of that and then i was looking around and i saw disk cleanup and i don't really know what that means so i wasn't going to click on it and i was just wondering if someone here could tell me what it means and what exactly it does...is it going to damage anything or hurt my computer or will it help it? i would like to thank you for taking the time out of your day to come by and read and review my discussion and hopefully answer, i hope that you all have had a great day so far and that you have a great and safe evening today, thanks again for taking the time to come by...
