Indigo Children - New step in human evolution?

I watched a programme last night about indigo children, children who are highly sensitive and usually possess psychic or esp related abilities. Often described as strong willed, independant thinkers who don't necessarly comply with rules or authority figures. They often have a clear sense of self and a strong will to make a significant difference in the world. What do you think do you think? that they really do exist? Do you know of any? or do you think it's a nice new age load of bumf to explain childrens behaviour?

Whoah, Mands you ask some interesting questions, Doreen Virtue PhD. and the crysal children too. Of course they exsist, they are here amongst us and so many people have no unstanding of this concept at all. I am really pleased that you have raided the subject and I will be watching this discussion to see what ohers think. You are blessed yourself in so many ways which is perhaps why this prgramme got to you, Huggles. Ellie :D

hey babes i come across the concept before when i've been reading up on other stuff but never really looked into it i found the programme very interesting and thought provoking and did think of my friends niece. It mentioned crystal children but only briefly i'm still reading up on it all. It got me thinking that if children were allowed to develop without being told that certain things didn't exist and weren't talked about. Would it make a difference?

I didn't see this programme and i haven't heard of this phenomenon before! i do think that there is a lot about the human mind that we don't understand so i think there's a possibility that there are people or children out there with psychic abilities etc, although having said that i also think that there may be some element of parents not wanting to admit that they have badly behaved children, and to say that they are "gifted" or different in some way is a good excuse! that's probably a bit controversial but i see a lot of families where i work and people are willing to believe pretty much anything about their children if it means that they don't have to accept that they're just plain naughty or lack discipline! xxx

I don't doubt there are gifted people out there but i am always slightly dubious when parents make these sorts of claims about their children! i'll have to watch if it ever gets repeated!! xxx

i watched it just before i came on chatting to you mrs last night
mmm that was my only thought because they kept liking it to ADD and other such conditions i was wondering just how exactly they tell i have no doubt that there are children who can do unique things but for the majority is it because they have a gift or because they have been allowed to develop differently. I'm still undecided

Hi mands...I have never heard of Indigo children...they sound rather special if they do exist but there is more on this earth that we don't know about so it wouldn't surprise me if they do exist....hugs littleowl

hey littleowl i've never met one but from what i've read and seen they really do seem to have a gift but i'm used to children seeming to have been here before sometimes the knowledge is just baffling it really makes you think how the hell can a 3 year old know that! So like you said theres lots of stuff going on thats way beyond the realms of normality as it were.

It's certainly a very interesting topic, Mands. Children like that might also be labelled 'gifted' - in Australia they are often identified and put into special classes. To be honest, I think everyone is gifted in their own way, and tend to take all the psychological crap with a grain of salt. We're all good at certain things - some of us never find out what it is! I also think a lot of strange behaviour in children these days is due to food additives and chemicals. If we all went back to a diet of fresh, wholesome food I think there would be less or no hyperactivity, asthma or many other allergies.

I have heard of this and I do believe they can exist, but I don't think they are necessarely a new step in evolution:
firstly, they have some problems on communicating with other people, what makes them insensitive towards social questions, so they are not "better" in that sense.
secondly, we have heard of witches and other kind of sensitive people and psychic abilities since the first steps of human beings, so I think indigo children are rather a "re-issue" of that kind of people.

i'm agreeing with you on the fact that they've always been around but i think the reference to new step in evolution is the fact that (according to studies) an increasing number of these kids emerge every year and that they have talents, knowledge and understanding that their predecessors didn't have. I don't think they are implying better just more advanced for their age. I do feel personally that if children were allowed to develop in pyschic and other areas without negative association that they may show more advanced development it's like anything if you use that side of the brain you become better at it. It's a shame really that it's not more integrated why are kids so shut off from it why is this part of the brain not allowed to be developed like others

I don't know what I think because I had never heard of this before. I do know that I think ADHD is a load of crap. Supposedly my step-son has it according to the doctor that his mother took him to. He does NOT act bad at my house. He isn't any more hyper then my nephew that is the same age. He's a perfectly normal 7 year old that has some issues with his parents divorce. My mother was a nurse and has seen a lot of kids diagnosed with ADHD and doesn't believe in it either. My step-son just needs more attention from his mom and more discipline.

i don't know anyone with it but it surprises me how eager the are to determin kids have add and people suffer from stress and depression when it took me over 3 years of actually getting my illness taken seriously and still is a struggle. I think like munch said some are just embarressed they're children are so naughty it's like a get out clause or an excuse.

I agree that it's an excuse. I think my stepson is depressed and stressed and he does not have ADD or ADHD.

I think that add &adhd has alot to do with the upbringing of the child and is a personality disorder not an actual diagnosable disease. I think that many (not all) mental illnesses could be "cured" with a change in lifestyle and this goes for adults too. Most people aren't willing to make the sacrifices needed to change their life for the better.
