Do you talk to your pets like they are people?

I always talk to my pets like I do with children. I tell them that they are pretty or handsome. I talk to them while I am feeding them. I even say goodbye to them before I go to work.
When I go home they are the first that I go and greet. I say hello to them and ask them how they are. Just looking at them very active and alive is enough to make me feel happy and know that they understand me. they just don't have words to talk to me. But their body language is word enough.
Pets should be loved just like people. They understand our language and they can feel if we care and love them....

Hi Masmasika, I don’t keep any pet nowadays as I’m afraid that it would leave me forever one day. I dislike such sorrowful feeling which I had experienced during my childhood.
My nephew keeps a tank of adorable fish in his house. Whenever I visit him I would like to watch the fish swimming freely and relaxingly in the crystal clear water.
They are one of the common species of Flower Horn in red color and some black stripes on both sides. When I approach the tank they would swim nearer and stare at me with their big round eyes. It seems that they are saying hello to me.
I would talk to them just like the way we usually talk to an innocent and lovely toddler. I could feel that they are so happy to have someone to talk and to accompany, as they are too lonely to have the same partner in the restricted tank all the time.
posting and Merry Christmas!

Yes, I talk to my pet because I don't have anyone to tell my secrets. Besides, the looks of my pet are the same so its comfortable for me to talk to them.

I would agree with you, pets should be talked to as they can understand what we are feeling. It may not the word were saying but our emotions. I always talked to my dog. I tell him the things that disturbed me. I feel relieved seeing how eager and attentive listening to me and he would licked my arms and bury his face on chest. Sometimes he would sit in my lap. His simple actions makes me feel happy. Pets may not understand words were saying but they can feel what we are feeling. Actions speaks louder than words, and that I truly believed.

Being the owner of 6 animals, I DO believe that they listen to our voice. I do not however believe that they understand words at all times. Instead, I believe that they react to the different tones and timbres of our voice and react accordingly. They do also respond to sign language if taught to do so. My opinion only, keep talking to them, they love you and your voice, it is all part of mutual love between our pets and us!

Of course, I talk to my cats. I tell them goodbye when I leave the house and ask them to be good. I am greeted at the door so that I can't help but say hello to them. I ask Josie for more room in the bed and tell her what a good girl she is. I ask about her arthritis and how she is feeling. My cats all understand me. I tell Josie many many secrets. She is not my child, she's my dear companion. Peaches comes for a few pettings, but doesn't like deep conversations. Paisley is just too busy to bother, and Arthur has his own issues to discuss. Josie is my confident.

I talk to pets all the time. Not like their children or anything but I do find myself talking to my dog lol. My mom on the other hand talks to my dog for hrs and shetalks to him like hes a baby. He does understand because he starts to snuggle up to her and act like the biggest baby ever. Its a funny thing to watch really.

I talk to my dog all the time. I wouldn't feel comfortable if I didn't. I mean, I couldn't imagine not talking to him. I think that is something that pet owners naturally do when you love your pet.
