Even though practice makes perfect might not be true, practice sure does a lot good when you're trying to learn a language!!
Try:
1) watching more films/tv that speak in english
2) communicate with English speakers more
3) read more English
4) have confidence in yourself :)
5) look up words that you come across that you don't know or are unsure
6) practice!
I'm not a native English speaker, and i found these guidelines helpful ^^

All good guidelines! I am intrigued by your photo though - all we can see is hair!!! Me thinks, I will have to have a look at your profile, to dig a little further... (BTW or By the way, "me thinks" is not a good example of English grammar!) Enjoy your myLotting!!! :~)

I am really thankful at mylot because I can practice English more often. and I am no good at it I know, but here in mylot nobody cares and because of that my confidence was somewhat boost, I think if mylot has been strict on English I would not last here ( nose bleed)

I am not that very fluent in English. I am not even good in grammar and vocabulary. These are some of the reasons why I joined mylot because I want to practice writing and expressing in English, because I deal with English speaking kids everyday. We have an English Speaking Policy in school. And yes, it is a must when you face high ranking officials or school administrators.
I am learning here dong.

I grade myself as an average user. I can't speak very fluent in English but i still can communicate with English speaker. When i was still in school, i don't speak much in English, i only start speak more in English when i start working. I have colleague who are not Chinese so i have to speak English to them since my Malay is not that good.

I would say an absolute yes! It sounds to me as though your English writing is ok though. I love the English language and you will find that if you start reading English books as well, this will improve your communication skills. Well, goodluck with your speaking. Andrew

I can translate freely from Chinese to English! But it is a pity that my accent is not decent. Thus I would like to mimic the way that an American goes

I would not say I am very fluent in English but so far my proficiency is more than the average. Yes, English is very important because it is an international language. It will give you the major strength in communication skills, both in speech and in writing. English is a must in today's global world so if you don't know English chances are...you will be counted out.

I have never spoke any other language but I hear that learning English is the hardest because of all of the slang we use. I guess I should feel grateful that it has always been my primary language, if not my only language.

I talk simple and good English.. What is very important about English is that it has to be made simple as well as understandable. Its in our hands.. Speaking good English will boost your confidence.. Make mistakes(but not always) that is the best way to learn English..
