public perception on tattoos could be like a roller coaster ride-sometimes an extreme high while at some other times a supreme low.
while some people consider tattoos as an art form, others view them as a brand for society's ills.
the stigma was cast in the 1960's when tattoos began to be associated with a life of crime in the sense that tattoo art was prevalent among inmates of city jails and security prisons.
the public perceived those brandishing skin art as "tainted". people took care not to hire any person who sported any form of skin art, especially those with tattoos proclaiming them members of certain gangs.the stigma persists up to now.
as such, one can easily understand the struggles faced by the modern tattoo industry in the country, the same industry that's thriving in other parts of the world.
but despite the prevalent negative perception of the public, young tattoo artists in the Metropolis are refusing to be deterred in their quest to meet the level of international artistry as far as skin is concerned.
do you plan to get yourself a tattoo in the near future?
