how effective is daily devotion?

Some days I get up with the intention to read a chapter or verse in the Bible and before I know it, I am doing something else. I carry a small devotional book in my bag for work and my Bible on the bedside table which I often move to the living room table so as to keep me focus, as I do believe having daily devotion with Jesus Christ is what sustains us as Christian and by having daily meditation and talking to him in prayer uplifts our spirit, renew or energy to face our daily life. I have come to realize that without daily devotion my spirit is like a dry desert and I get burden down by the ups and down of this life but when I have daily devotion I get to a place where I am confident that Jesus Christ will take me through the day and to the next level and move obstacles miracleously out of the way with blessings that he deemed for my life.
