I was in the bag section of the mall looking for a nice bag for myself. I probably have been looking around for about 30 minutes when I saw one that I really liked. The saleslady said that it was the only one of its kind left. However, since I knew that there are other bags that I have not yet checked, I put the bag on one side and told the saleslady that I will get that bag. I told her that I will buy it and let her hold it for me while I looked around for possible options. Well, she did hold it for me. After about 3 minutes, I made up my mind and prepared the money to pay for the bag. When I approached the sales lady, she said someone else saw the bag and told her she will buy it. I was so angry! I said "Did I not tell you that I will buy the bag and I will just look around for possible options?" She blushed and replied "Sorry ma'am, I thought you will not buy it." I did not want to feel uncomfortable carrying the bag while I was looking around and that was why I asked her to hold it for me for a while. I regretted leaving her the bag!

I think the sales lady was rude and made a bad move. She could have simply asked you before letting it go. Now the store stands a chance to loose you as a customer because their employee did not consider what your reaction to the non-sale may have been.

Well, if it happened to me, I am sure it also happened to other customers. I hope the store reminds their people how important their customers are. I understand that the person the lady gave the bag to has the means to buy the bag but she should have been more polite by asking me if I still intended to buy the bag before letting it go.

Well, don't feel regret cause its not your fault. Rude I may sound but it was the saleslady's dumbness why you weren't able to buy the bag. If she just listened very well and understood what you told her you wouldn't lose the bag. I'm sure you'll find something much better. You're a good shopper I know hehe!
Ciao!

To be honest, I feel bad that I did not hold the bag myself. But anyway, it's water under the bridge... I do hope to find a better bag soon.

I would have been very upset if that sort of thing happened to me... but i don't think i will ever blame the saleslady because if i really liked the bag and that is the only one left... i wouldn't dare leave it... since if i liked it... that means... other women would like it too... so the safest way is for me to secure it first hand... and salesladies don't really do that... some don't even care...

I regret that I did not hold the bag myself.. It's just that I do not really feel comfortable going around holding some stuffs. But I have learned my lesson..

Aw shucks! This happened to me a few times already but it's because I tell the sales lady that I will think about it. If I want to buy something I hold on to it right away haha. Is it possible to get another bag from a different branch though? If not, maybe it's a sign that there's something better out there just waiting for you. :D

Im sure you are pretty pissed off by that incident.Guess the rule was to keep the goods you like on your hand, specially if it is the last piece or else someone else might get the item that you want.
I had a similar incident with a sales lady. And until now,i still get pissed whenever i remember it.I went ot the mall early because i am very excited to buy myself a new pair of pants. As I go through the aisle, a saleslady was by my side assisting me.i took two pairs which i like to try it out.But before that I asked the sales lady to get me a smaller size. When she handed me the pants, a fellow sales lady who was attending to a different brand of pants said "she's not buying that" ("hindi naman yan bibili").I totally heard what she said because I was still about to enter the dressing room.I got really pissed.I tried the pants on and when I found that they fit,I hurriedly went out and told the sals lady that I will be buying both then gave a nasty look to her fellow sales lady.
i kinda hated the other sales lady.what was she tingking?that i dont have money to pay fro the goods. They should not act that way because its their duty to serve the customers.
I still remember the insident up to this day and it still pisses me of..

As someone who has worked I retail I can tell you that the majority of times you put something 'on the side' for someone they don't come back for it and you can lose a sale by having an item not displayed. The shop assistant's bosses would have wanted her to sell the bag to whoever came up with the money first - unless you have given a deposit for something, she has no obligation to you whatsoever.
You were just unlucky that someone else spotted it - in my opinion you were mistaken for embarrassing the shop assistant for doing her job - it's the old bird in the hand proverb - the cash in the hand is worth two promises of cash...
Sorry to disagree, but from my stand point she did what her employers would expect her to do. It's only really the smaller, personal shops that will genuinely put things aside for you, the busier retailer just wants to sell, sell, sell....

, i hate that. but, cant blame the sales lady for this issue (i am sure ) happened already to them that people promise to buy it but then no longer ruturn, so they might as well give it to a sure buyer. this happened to me already and the sales lady was explaining that wala pa xang benta so she gave it to a sure buyer, not meaning that i am not a sure buyer but she was thinking of the incidents that happened to her were people promise it be back but no longer comes back. so from that day on i always hold on to the things i wanted to buy then i just let go of it once i fully made up my mind if i will buy it or not.

I understand that they have had bad experiences similar to what you just said. Well, I was just few feet away from her. She should have called my attention and asked me if I was still interested in the bag or not before giving it to another customer. Oh well....

oh, I think it's common ,you don't pay the money on the earth, and the saleslady just want to sale the merchandise as earlier as she can ,duo to earn the profit for her boss. at that moment ,you should to paid the money or some earest money that prove you must be buy the product or something else. ok, just take a lesson for the future shopping or other business, when we decide to do something we must take the action as soon as possible.

Hi dolc_vita78,
I think the sales lady is too quick to make a sale and didn't care whether you wanted to buy it or not, I hate people who do that, when you take it to the counter she should have put a side under counter for you, you should have complain to the mamager.

You should have not left it since theres no other supply anymore except that one.You could find something else for option but you should never take that away from your hands.I'm sorry you missed it.I hope you learn a lesson.I love shopping and if theres one thing that i like that only one left i will never take it away from me except if theres still alot of stock left.

Hey dolce, I guess because you said you were looking for
possible options she felt that there was a chance that
you might not buy the bag. Even though I think that she
should have asked you first before she gave it to someone
else since you saw it first and had given it to her
to hold saying that you were going to buy it. The least
she could have done was to ask you again before just
giving it to someone else. I do agree that the sales
person did not handle this properly and that you had
the right to be annoyed. If you had known that she
was going to do something like this you could have
held on to it yourself!

I feel the sales lady actually made a wrong move on her part by selling the bag you had her hold for you.if possible she should of got your attention and asked if you were actually going to buy the bag. I have asked a saleslady to hold an item for me and told her i am going to check a couple of more shops and i will be back. When i did come back the sales lady still had the top for me,and she knew i was checking other places for tops. happy mylotting

[i]Hi dolce,
wow...she must not be in her mind! ANyway, I hope it will give her some lesson in life! I haven't tried that really because when I like something, I will not leave it anywhere, hahahha, I am just scared that someone will get it and then when I will find another one which is better that is the time, I will drop the item! Anyway, maybe those bag was not really for your friend..LOL!

She should not have promised to hold it for you, then turn around and sell it to someone else. I would have made a complaint. You just don't do that.
Most stores have a hold policy for pick up the next day or even end of day pickup, and she should of set it aside for you. If you had not returned by end of day or next morning, then reshelve it.

I think that sales lady wanted a quick comission, 9 out of 10 times the customers dosen't come back when they say they will and the associate knew that it was a sure things when she sold it to the other woman. It's not right what she did, she should have set it aside out of sight from other customers so no one would ask about it. Then she would not have been tempted to sell it before you came back to get it.
