Fabrication

Does anyone think personal fabricators will become a reality anytime soon? Projects like Reprap and Fab@Home have been around for a while now, but those are still based on crude technologies, and they take a while to put together or build designs for. I'm hoping for a fabricator that can fit in a cabinet and build basic parts by 2015. Any other estimates?
