What do you do when a family member or a friend tells you that? Do you leave them alone or do you ask what's wrong?
I know this has happened to a lot of us and I was just wondering how you reacted to that and if you did what the person asked you to do.
Your insight on this would be helpful.

I'll ask once what happened. If they did not want to tell and keep asking me to leave them alone, I'll leave them alone. I do feel people need some privacy to cool down when something happens to them. They need time to think, digest and plan how to move forward. I'll check with them again when they cool down and ready to share.

I'll probably do the same thing as well. I would have to check on the person's condition first before I ask them what's wrong. If they seem really stressed out, I'd probably leave them alone. I'll go and check once I see that the person is better.

Personally, if someone said that to me I would give them some space. I think we all sometimes need to be alone to think about things - and as long as our friends and family members know we are there for them if they need us, they deserve to be respected. There would be nothing worse than having someone hounding you when you were feeling overwhelmed already. However, after giving the person some time out, I would make sure I was keeping an eye on them - just in case.

Hi Guybrush...
Thanks for the input. Yes, I'd have to agree with you on this. If someone asks that, I would leave them alone for a while. I wouldn't want to pressure the person more with my questions.

the more they say that I wanted to leave, I know that the more they need someone. even if they push me away, I will still be by their side for them to know that they had someone, just to listen to.
