Melamine is an organic compound used to produce melamine resin by combining it with (embalming chemical) formaldehyde.
Melamine Resin is a kind of plastic which is characterized by its harness and durability and it can withstand fire and heat up to 140 degree centigrade.

That is right, melamine is a common plastic compound which is used in construction of many common household items.
However, when tested using the kejedhal analysis it tests as being 50% protein by weight. This is much higher than the protein found in most food sources. Therefore if companies do not care about the health of the people (or animals) which their products are being fed to they can add melamine to the food to boost the apparent protein content.
