I just bought a compaq laptop. How do I get a wifi connection?

You need a wireless router. It's as simple as this. You buy one, connect it to your internet cable and share the Internet connection. Don't forget to secure the wireless connection. You'll find this in the router's settings. It is reccomended to secure your wireless connection because that way no one besides you can use the connection.

Hi mercuryman3a All you have to do is buy a router.... Once you have one, you can start using WiFi. I'm not sure though how much routers cost where you live.

yes you do need a wireless router or you can get a wirless modem if your isp provides one...check with you isp..
