Today I have joined 10,000 bloggers for Blog Action Day
Bloggers everywhere are writing on their blogs today about poverty, to raise awareness and to participate in a global discussion on an important issue. I have put a link to my blog post on my profile page, beneath the Blog Action Day banner.
If you don’t have a blog, you can add your support by visiting some of the participating blogs and adding your comments to their posts. It costs nothing to take part.
You can help with fundraising, or donate at the site to help people in developing areas lift themselves out of poverty, and to combat diseases that have a crippling effect on the fight against poverty.

Best of luck to everybody who joins in the world-wide blog, and hopefully
people will take time out to spend awhile contributing to the effort. It
was certainly interesting to see the wide variety of people and organisations
that took part on Blog Action Day 2007, and all things being equal, the day
should be even more successful a year later.
The key to success has probably been the many different ways that people
chose for their individual efforts, some writing, others setting up fund-
raising efforts for the day or even longer. Yes, the cynical among us will
be banging on about the futility of trying to eradicate poverty at anything
less than the highest political levels, but at the end of the day, we are
all responsible, we all have a part to play. Maybe that will be the greatest
success of the day, convincing people that every effort matters, however
small it may seem.

Thus is what I believe too.

This is a fantastic idea and I will visit some blogs as I don't have one and I am not sure as to how to make one or get one. I would like to have one. I would do this too if I had one.
I believe that poverty is overlooked in the United States to help other countries and it saddens me. I am not at poverty level but we have come close several times recently and it is not a fun place to be. I have always thought that I would like to be involved with a group that works with the poor that would help them to get out of the situation that they are in.
The government needs to worry about the poor in the United Staes before they worry about starving children in third world countries. Feed and Care for our own!

It's nice that you want to help those in your own country to get out of that situation. There must be many more people at poverty level now because of the recent economic downturn.
