Do you REALLY enjoy politics?

I see politics listed as a hobby all the time. All the time. And I'm glad so many people are interested in national and worldwide news and elections. But I don't want to talk about it much on mylot at all. People can get ugly, and I hate seeing people go to such extremes. So I was wondering, is that really a hobby some of you have? Do you look for discussions on politics? I've answered several discussions on politics, and had discussions with others in my every day life. But I wouldn't list this as something I enjoy or have as a hobby. Obviously it is good to have discussions on serious topics, we can learn from everything, and certainly our discussions don't always have to be superficial.
How do you feel?

It is not a hobby. I think it is in my genes on my father's side. It is probably an obsession for me. That is especially true this year. We have two very different candidates. One is very liberal, and one is very conservative. This year's election has been the dirtiest one I have seen. It is also one that will change our world is such a scary way if we get Obama in. It will be an incredible and horrible turning point. People have ignored such telltale signs and hate. They really do not care if someone is anti-American..anti-white...they will vote for him anyway. Do I look for political discussions? Almost as much as I look for chocolate pudding! Hey, I said it was an obsession, didn't I?

Hey ambie, I feel as you do. I have answered a very few
discussions on politics. I don't enjoy the fights that
go on and on. I have my opinions, but I do not wish to
get into long drawn out battles here about them. It is
not a hobby for me. It is something that is of extreme
importance that needs to be addressed, but not on a day
to day basis. I try to stay away from these discussions
as much as possible. I will make my decision on who I
am voting for and why and I don't need to get into all
the disagreements and arguments that ensue around it.
There are too many other things going on that I am more
interested in discussing. I don't feel that I have much
to say or much control over what will happen one way or
the other so I will keep out of the those discussions
and let the people fight it out amongst themselves.

I have it listed as an interest but not as a hobby. I really do find it interesting during this election time.
A big plus for me is to see how many myLot members lose their cools. I get a kick out of watching to see how really low they can sink insulting others when they can not give a response with intelligence and facts or should anyone disagree with them.

I like watching in the privacy of my home and forming my opinions there....I do not like discussing them with anyone as we each have our own opinion and I get sick of people trying to always bully me into their way of thinking. I really wouldn't call it a hobby...more like a civic duty!

Sure. But in an seroius way.Politics which affects every citizen. Our India is going to face their next election on MAY 2009. I pray earnestly for the formation of Stable Government. No hung Parliment. India is a secular country . So no harressment on religion. No Violence. No Terriorism. Every citizen must be happy when the government is stable. Stable Govt.plays vital role in commerce, Economics, Business and Foreign Investment. I feel it is not a hobby. It is a serious matter. All nations are watching their neighbour countrie's Politics. Citizen's or Voters must have this awareness.

Though I don't really know about politics, I think politics is very important for us. Any nation and country need politics, which is just like a tool that run a big machine. It exicts really around us. The problem is that how politics serve well for the publics.

I find politics in general to be very interesting. this election year though I am getting really tired of all the nastiness and the lack of decorum shown by one campaign in particular. At this point I think just about everyone is sick of it. I jsut wish it was over. I think I will go back to liking politics after the election.

I don't think of politics as a hobby. I think of it as an obsession. I am very interested in it, but the ugly side of it depresses me. So I try to turn it off and not think about it. But I always find myself checking the Internet several times a day to see if there are any new developments and watching political news shows every night to see what the pundits are saying. I will be glad when the election is over and I can focus on other things.

Politics are fascinating, but elections are exhausting. At first they are interesting but as the contest gets more heated they become annoying and tiresome. Speaking for myself, it gets very uncomfortable once people start attacking their opponent's personal character instead of addressing issues. And it is disappointing when the supporters display abusive and dangerous behavior based on their over zealous passion. At that point, I just can't wait for the election to be over. Once it's over and people have cast their ballot and the winner is decided, life goes on. For example whether you like Bush or not, the fact is we have survived the last 8 years.

yes i love politics in my country. because it is very very funny, whenever i get angry or stress in my mind, i'll take and read the newspaper. after reading those funny news, my stress will be reduced. in tamilnadu politics, u can see so many comedians. i think all over the world, it will be same.
i wish to have serious topics or discussions. but i answered here funny because, this is what the truth i can give about my state politics.
anyway, i have plans to enter in politics not less than 10 years after developing my skills.

yeah...dear.....
I like politics very much,as it is one of the most burning issue in my country.
politics is required in each and every field. If you know politics then you can survive in this world..because politics is everywhere...
But i want to say that these days politics is fully contaminated, because of politicians.they are not interested in country developement, they work only for their profit..
so we should come forward and remove the deficiencies in politics...
Only Youth can do this properly.....

I used to care nothing, i just live my life independently. After starting work, i found the market follows the policies of market or global situation. I then pay a little attention to it. But i'm still not so clear and most of the time i'd get confused
