I want to work from home doing transcription work. I have been hearing that oDesk is a good place. I signed there two days ago, and I'm wondering how can I work on a project. It seems I need to place and win a bid, or can I apply to the employers directly? I took one of the qualification or skill test and it says I am on top 20.
Now there is an oDesk readiness Test which I haven't taken up yet.
I want to hear from people already working in the site, how, or when can I start applying for projects?

I am a long standing Odesk worker. It's a good site but I have to realize that the competition is very tough on it so, do not give up if You see that You don't start getting jobs soon.

but it looks like a good site.

yes
you want to place your bids in there projects, But winning the first job is difficult so I suggest you to place a bid as low as possible for win the first project, But first you have to take the odesk reediness test, its also difficult too. because to pass that test we have to know all about odesk.
Anyway Good luck.
