In Yahoo news this morning there was an interesting article about a proposed overhaul to the telephone systemChanges are about to be made that could create a hike in our telephone bills, but they say it will improve the service for broadband users. Some who are against the proposed plan say that it is only a means of making up for the losses the telephone companies have incurred due to many people using wireless and internet calling. That sounds about right to me. The problem stems mostly from service to rural areas because carriers believe it is too costly to network their services with other carriers. Do you think this is just another way of asking for a raise in your telephone bill? http://tech.yahoo.com/news/ap/20081015/ap_on_hi_te/tec_fcc_telecom_overhaul

Of course. Anyway they can charge you for , they will.It sounds like the people who really need a phone pretty soon won't be able to afford one.

I do think they have to find a way to compete. Although, I think it will make them lose more.

Oh no.. I think it might be the best for telcos but not for the consumers. I think I should opt to cut my plan if this project is really pursued. Are those officials thinking right? After the economic slowdown would you expect consumers are going to accept an additional $6.50 monthly billed and paid in open arms?
