Pregnant Women forced to leave their jobs?!

Working Mom to feed her babies. - Eventhough one has to leave work on their own accord, they are still working.

What is wrong with this picture?I think pregnant woman can make up her own mind and know if they can no longer be able to perform their jobs and be able to take their maternity leave on their own accord. I don't think a woman should be told when it's time to go, when nobody knows a woman's body better than a woman. What does everyone think about this?

I agree with you that no one knows a woman's body better than herself. I have however seen pregnant women push themselves too far when working too far into their pregnancy. Just honestly exerting themselves too much, being too far along. And as you said, no one knows a woman's body better than herself, I think some women don't know their own limitations. That is the only time I think a woman should be sent home, if there is a consensus from co-workers in which they agree that what they see a pregnant woman doing could have negative reprecussions for her and her unborn child. I would hate to see any woman push herself too far because she might feel she has something to prove. But I fully support a woman's right to work until she feels she can't!

Yes, that is right, that some women do push themselves above and beyond during their pregnancy. It's just to bad that some might think they have something to prove or push themselves to hard that they forget they are carrying a life there and yes, what the negative reprecussions could be. Women, we all push ourselves to the extent with everything we do, time to take care of yourself and take it easy.

Here in the Philippines pregnant woman is still allowed to work as long as they can still perform their job effectively. Pregnant woman is allowed to file for a maternity leave and can still go back to work after giving birth. So I don't think that pregnant woman will forced to leave their jobs.. it is up to them if they will resign or continue to work..

That's the way it should be, but sometimes and in the best interest of the unborn baby and mother, other people may have to use their best judgement. In case the woman is making the wrong choices or not thinking clearly.

Here in the USA it is illegal to make a woman leave her job until she is ready to leave it and then she can take maternity leave and is supposed to have her job back when she is ready to return a few weeks after the baby is born. If someone is made to leave their job by an employer it is illegal for an employer to discriminate this way and there are rescources and places she can go to over this. If it is for medical or health reasons that would endanger the mother or unborn child and her doctor feels she should leave that is another matter. Then she should leave as soon as possible. She may know her body but the doctor has special instruments and things they can tell if there may be a problem the mother is unaware of. I know of a woman who did not listen to her doctor and kept working and doing things and she began having problems more and she still felt she had to work and kept working. It caused her to lose her baby when she was about six months along. So it is wise to listen to the doctor he is only telling you to stop working for medical reasons and well being and health of the child or the mother or both.

Well in general yes you are right that a woman can make that decision better than everyone else, but there a jobs where there is not an easy way out. My sister worked with chemicals that could have harmed the baby so as soon as she knew she was pregnant she told her boss and they let her go. She got payed anyway. There is also work places where heavy lifting is involved. Empoyers are responsible for all employees and that would be unborn children as well. Now I dont aprove of women been forced to go just because they are pregnant, or if there is another position they can take while pregnant if that is posible but the empoyer refuses to do that, or if they are let go without any pay that is not fair. But if the health of the baby and the mother is at question and the mother knew that when she started working than I dont have an issue.

That's true and yes, a company should look after their employees like that. Avoiding risk for both the soon to be mom and themselves. I do agree about women taking a job where they do know it's a risk and danger if one ends up expectant.
