Okay, minds out of the gutters for now. I am referring to your toilet paper roll. Which way does yours hang? Facing you, or facing to the backside? I keep mine facing me as it is easier for my elderly father to get the paper off the roll. I try to get my wife to replace it in the same manner but never any luck. Dad is elderly and has a hard time trying to reach to the back of the roll to grab the edge of the paper. So which way does yours hang? And for what reason if any at all? Or do you just change it not pating attention to which way the roll sits on it? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I hate when it is hanging from the backside. We always make sure ours hangs over the frontside, it just makes it so much easier. I also remember when they made and I bought the kind with pretty patterns on it....well if it was not hanging over the front side then you could not see the pretty designs. hahaha I guess growing up my mother always did it this way and same with me and my kids.

Why is it harder for us to reach behind that small roll to get the leadsing edge of the paper? Have we become that lazy in our days now? This is going to be a great discussion. (I hope) I have not bought the patterned style in eons myself. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

LOL Grandpa Bob you did have everyone wondering there for a bit. I prefer mine like yours, facing the front. It is much easier to get to. Especially if you are using the bathroom in the evening and the only light is a night light. So it is better to the front for me. My fiance forgets sometimes but I always fix it.

It lives where is does because that's where it was when we moved in - and there's really nowhere else it could be. I hang in 'overhand' because it's easier to grab and I don't like the idea of it hanging so it touches the wall. Which is absolutely silly because I'm sure it gets enough germs on it from the air alone!

Thanks as well. I, for one, can not get stressed as I try to retrieve the paper from behind. hence I store it facing me as well. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

OK GREAT now I am sitting here giggling to myself alone. I feel really silly talking about toilet paper BUT at least it did make me laugh!!! Somehow 'grabbing' something from 'behind' just seems wrong!!

Hi Grandpa B, Hubby and I hang it making sure that it is facing us in that way, it is easy for us to roll when we need it! Actually, I learned it from him since at first I didn't pay attention since I can handle both ways but hubby is used to that way so, I made some adjustment! LOL!

It is just another habit of each individual it seems as to the manner in which way it hangs for us. Creatures of habit huh? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I used to keep it facing me before. But now since my son is growing up fast, whenever I put him on the potty, he makes it a point to roll down the paper and he almost everytime wastes paper. So, now I have started putting it facing backward because it takes some time for him to realise that the paper is not rolling down this way...then of course he changes course but I take him out before that

Teach him the proper way to unroll just what is needed mauybe? Right teaching a young child this is like teaching them not to eat candy. Thanks also for your time in my page. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

My husband had shown me that putting it in facing me makes it easier, so for 25 years, that is how I put my toilet paper up..

I hang the toilet paper like your wife does... so that the paper hangs at the back. Apparently, it's the "wrong" way to hang toilet paper, according to "Miss Manners", however, I was forced into it years ago. I had a cat. His name was Timmy. And one thing that Timmy LOVED to do, was to sit on the (closed lid) toilet seat, and spin the toilet paper roll. He was very good at it too. And he would almost always manage to leave it hanging down lower than it was before. If he didn't, you could at least tell he'd been there by some teeth marks in the roll. Fast forward a few years.... I had a son. His name was Andrew. And one thing Andrew LOVED to do as a new toddler, was to go into the bathroom and spin the toilet paper roll. He was very good at it too. I saw him unravel an entire new roll once. Rolling it back onto the tube was time I'll never have back again. I never noticed teeth marks. Fast forward to today.... I have found, through a few past experiences, that keeping the toilet paper end hanging at the back makes it far more difficult for animals or small children to have the pleasure of unrolling it to see how much of a pile it can make on the floor with each new spin. I'm such a party pooper, aren't I?

I love your response. When I had cats they also loved unrolling the paper so it was kept to the back for this purpose. Now with just a dog that isn't a problem. Dad is the problem. Not really. Thanks for another great laugh today. I love this discussion and the responses so far. Have a great day/evening. And you're not a prty pooper as I am not having a prty about this. GB - I LOVE your title!!! LOVE IT!!!! I'm an over the top towards the front kinda gal. I've even been known to change them in public locales (if accessible) so great is my directional desire. It's much easier to get the roll started by batting it towards yourself to unroll than it is to clumsily bat it backwards and then reach under it for the unleashing. What really bugs me is when the manufacturer fixes the starter sheet in a way that makes it look like it's going one way when it's actually going another. Then you have to take the dang thing off and start all over again. I now begin the process BEFORE impaling the roll to be sure all is well.

Gotta love my titles a lot at times. I try to draw attention with catchy titles most times. I can't recall changing any public rolls myself. I feel that's carrying it a little too far. Some actually dopg ear the corner to make starting it easier. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

mine usually hangs facing me as well. it's not something that i usually think about but i remember someone saying to my mum that she did it the wrong way (the same way as me) because she was left handed, so apparently left handed people hang it this way and right handed people do it the other way, am not sure how true this is but it's a theory!! hehe xxx

I am also always reminding my wife she placed it the wrong way on the holder. I have no idea if it is left or right hand related either. That's a whole new discussion isn't it? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I always thought it's supposed to hang over the front. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one in my family who puts it on there that way, though. If it's on facing the back, I turn it around because it bothers me. I'm sure that eventually I'll just start putting it on with out paying attention. Mine usually hangs facing me because it just makes sense. =o)

My toliet paper roll hangs facing me because so much easier for kids to get to the tolet paper roll if it is hanging facing you. If I hang the toliet paper roll towards the backside it will turn into a big mess.

Elic, we are like you. When we get up during the night, we never turn on a light. We are able to 'see in the dark' enough to make it to the bathroom. But, in our master bathroom, we set the toilet tissue on the end of the vanity. We only have to reach up with the right arm and it's right there handy.

LMBO!! Shame shame shame on you grandpa!! You are terrible!! But oh so funny!! LMBO!! Ok, ok, ok, to the discussion at hand... lol My toilet paper hangs on the outside for the same reasons, because it's easier for anyone to get a hold of it. If it were the other way, it's hard to see the edge of it. My hubby knows better than to even try putting it up the other way!! LOL By the way, it's good to see you too!! Don't think I'll be on here much though because I can't seem to get back to my old self. The whole load of this summer has finally gotten to me because it's one deg gone thing after another and now it's my dumb azz brother getting on my case. He's the type that's "He's right and you're wrong and won't help any because it's not his problem" kind of person. He dares to tell me what I'm doing wrong and is an azz about it but yet he won't help any. He's hurt me so many times over the years and I've let it go and let it go to keep the peace but no more. I'm so past getting over it or letting it go so we're fighting like never before because I've had enough.

I am hoping this discussion and title reaqlly draw a lot of members to respond. Seems a hit with 2 out of 3 so far loving it and laughing hard as well. Dad has litterally ripped the roll a lot trying to hget it the other way. He has even called me in their (PHEWWWW) to set the paper "correctly". Too funny and nasty smelling at times when I have to help him in this manner. Well as far as you being here much, just think of me then maybe you'll drop in ever so often. Or stare at the mugs then drop in to say hi. Send an email ever so often as well. Thanks for your time today as well here, love seeing ya here! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

LOL Grandpa Bob, Mine doesn't hang either way as no holder on the wall I have a stand up pole that they are on and just grab the top roll and then place back, it holds about six from the floor. I don't own a drill so this was the easy option. Works for me. Ellie :D
