I know this is a naive way of thinking about it..but honestly sometimes it does feel that way...it just gets more and more intense and twisted...
It has evolved so much since they were all just random people who survived a plane crash on an island with weird noises at night.

That thought never entered my mind. I have not been viewing LOST on regular basis. So, two weeks ago I finished doing LOST marathon viewing from seasons one to three and I am now into season 4. I have been so engrossed with all the twists and inter-related events of characters it never occured to me, the writers are making things up each season. Oh well maybe they can do that for each season, or they brainstorm as they go along. That is normal I think, to pique viewers' interest. Whatever, LOST is a thinking show and it leaves me craving for more each time I watch it..

I thought that they were trying to claim that it was all plotted out from the beginning. But then they said that the Ben character was supposed to be a minor short lived character at first only to end up being central to the show after a gripping performance.
If you go back and watch the first season now, you will feel like you are watching a totally different show.

It is definately a different show. That is why I watch it. Just because you don't know what is going to happen. I mean they just kill a character off or you think you know what is going to happen and then boom, they totally go in a different direction. Can't wait for it to come back on.

From what I've read, I understand that the show's creator and writers had a beginning and knew what they wanted the ending to be, but the middle parts are subject to change as the characters evolve. After all, Jack's character wasn't supposed to live past the first few episodes and now he's the show's lead character. Others have sort of outlived their usefulness as the show progresses and are written out. So I do feel like they're making it up as they go along, but I think they have a definite idea for how things are supposed to end up and that the mythology of the show is strong. It just gets frustrating because every time something is explained, a whole new bunch of questions are asked. And the writers have made it clear that not everything is going to be answered, or at least it won't be cut-and-dried answers.

I totally agree. I'm getting to where I don't even want to watch it when the newe episodes come out. They aren't out yet are they? I thought they were just doing all the repeats right now all over again to get everyone caught up because its such a lost cause. I will watch the new stuff but i just get frustrated. Is it out now? or when is it gonna start the new episodes again. I hope I haven't been missing it this whole time. If I have, then forget it. It's too late for me. Let me know whats going on please.

lol, actually I think they said that the plot was never all finished and that they were working on it as the show progressed haha.
"Even we don't know how it's gonna turn out!"...that's what they said!
It certainly has come a long way though. It'll be neat to see where it ends up.
