i have been a mylot member for almost five days now and i have been noticing that some of our fellow lotters have a star before they username. some even has a number on it. now, i am wondering how did they get it? i just know about the number after our usernames - it's the number of discussions we participated in, right?

Yes, the number right after your username reflects the number of discussions you have participated in.
You get a star after you reach 100 posts. This is your reputation based on how others have rated you.

you will get a star after your 100th post.the number inside the stars denotes o"our reputation"or how othe mylot users rates us.the higher the star is,the higher rate you get.if you will place your cursor beside your star you will see your rating (67/100 in my case).the stars for me is an achievement indicator.it does not affects our earnings but having a higher star means other mylotters finds your discussions interesting and worthwhile.by the way you are rated by the use of the buttons below your discussion, the symbols (+) (-) and (!).you use the last symbol when reporting a disturbing discussion to the admin.
