I just bought a car, second hand. It's a 1993 Honda Civic Hatchback. It's color is pink. It's really cute. My problem is I still don't have a driver's license (just a student's license) so I really can't drive it alone. Plus, I have no knowledge on how to maintain a car. Any tips or suggestions? What do I have to do? Daily maintenance? Etc?

Honda's are great. Learn how to at least CHECK your basics. You can have someone change the oil (its no fun to crawl under & hope the oil doesn't run down your arm) but know how to check it and add for in between maintenance, check water, know how to use jumper cables or if it's stick shift then learn how to push start. Learn how to read the gauges on the dash board. When spark plugs should be changed depends on what you use and what the dealer recommends. I wouldn't do it at every oil change, spark plugs are better than they used to be. Heck, there's spark plugs that are made for some cars that are recommended to replace at 100,000 miles. Can you imagine that? Learn how to check air pressure in your tires and how to add. (This way you can just look to see if the mechanic is good looking! If he is, ask if he can air up your tires. If he's too junky, just ask for an air hose!) And ask around if anyone has a mechanic that they trust and is good. It's very hard to find an honest mechanic these days. I used to run a shop and I can't believe the horror stories that people told me! Best wishes & happy driving! Aloha!

honda's are very reliable cars the engines seem to outlast the bodywork in your picture yhe body work seems quite good, just make sure you change the oil regulary and a new oil filter time you change the oil about every 4-5,000 miles also change the spark plugs when you change the oil, check the water in the radiator once a week, then just a quick look at the tyres before you drive (daily) and you should be fine i was a mechanic for 16 years i'm now a catering engineer

well kabayan... =) maintenance wise you will be having lots of problems...a 1993 car has a big mileage in it and once a car reaches 120+ mileage there will be a lot of maintenance to be done. good luck...

thanks. the mileage is actually 90,000 kms. the good thing is the previous owner used it only to travel to work and also she was very careful with the car and it was casa maintained. there are only a few problems but all is good.
