There is 2 kinds of mouse 1# Track ball (the old one) 2# Optical (the new one).
Which mouse do you like best?
I like Optical. There no hassle to use it. and it's very smooth. It have much pixels, thats why its good for drawing.

well, that's no loneg a question for me!! i would opt to have an optical mouse of course! that's easier to use you know, easier to control too. unlike track balls in the surface is not smooth then the movement of the mouse is uncontrollable. it takes a lot of time to put the cursor in the right place, but for optical mouse, that has never been a problem, the colors on teh optical mouse makes it look very cool too..

I've been using logitech trackman marble . My first came when my parents bought one of these on a whim for our first computer. I reacted hostile initially because all my experience with trackballs up to that point were crappy wheel based ones.
There are good points and bad points.
Good: It has always been as accurate as the best mouse, even before mice went optical.
The cord never ever gets in the way of your movement, because it doesn't move.
Doesn't require desk space. My screen is flush with my desk, my keyboard sitting snugly on an open desk drawer.
Bad: You can't hope to achieve smooth 360+ degree rotation on an fps. You have to move your thumb at some point.
But the main advantage, and the reason why I will never go back to using a normal mouse is that I can place a trackball anywhere. Before I started this note I was reclined all the way back in my chair with my trackball on my chest navigating Slashdot in complete comfort. I tend to use it on my knee alot too.
Also another advantage is no one wants to use it. So no one is using my damned computer when I'm not around. Also the ball is perfect for flinging at your coworker.

Definately an optical mouse. The other week, I had a problem with my optical mouse, but couldn't get to the shop to get a replacement, so had to use a spare older trackball mouse.
What a nightmare it was, I couldn't wait to get a replacement mouse.
Never again.

I use a optical mouse too. It's precise, easy to clean and you cand make fast and precise moves with it. And considering the fact that I like FPS games, it's a real advantage to play these games with a optical mouse.

I use optical mouse. Because if i use ball mouse, i have to do cleanup weekly for dust. But if i select optical mouse, then that that not required.

I have an optical mouse. I prefer it more than the trackball. You have to clean your mouse with the trackball every now and then. Optical mouse have solved that problem. © ronaldinu 2008

What an improvement over time from the "trackball" to the "Optical" mouse. I never did like the trackball, hated having to take it apart and clean it. The optical mouse is practically maintenance free.

Even i am in favour of the optical mouse because of its sensitivity. Second thing it requires less maintains as compared to conventional ball mouse because of lack of any mechanical and moving components, so problem of stucked ball or roller in it.

I'm using the optical mouse, a Logitech (with cord) to be exact. I always had trouble with the track ball one. Some of the computers at my school has track ball mouses and I almost always have trouble with them. I'm very glad that we won (yes, we won our mouse at a spin-the-wheel contest during a party) an optical mouse, because I'm a computer artist (hobby). Using a track ball would be way too hard for me, but with the optical I can draw smooth and usually straight lines with out any hassle.
Cheers, friend!
