Another GOP mailing: this time, full of race-based stereotypes

"The latest newsletter by an Inland Republican women's group depicts Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama surrounded by a watermelon, ribs and a bucket of fried chicken, prompting outrage in political circles.
The October newsletter by the Chaffey Community Republican Women, Federated says if Obama is elected his image will appear on food stamps -- instead of dollar bills like other presidents. The statement is followed by an illustration of "Obama Bucks" -- a phony $10 bill featuring Obama's face on a donkey's body, labeled "United States Food Stamps."" --http://www.pe.com/localnews/inland/stories/PE_News_Local_S_webbuck1.e7982b.html
Here's the "illustration" mentioned above: http://www.pe.com/imagesdaily/2008/10-16/racist16_400.jpg
And just when my anger about the Sacramento GOP calling for Obama to be tortured was starting to fade, too...

I really hope that this is the start of the downfall of the Republican party. If this is the party of family values I sure in the hell do not want them teaching anyone I know "family values". This is sick just plain sick.

X,
I don't know what to say. I watch the news and read the paper, you should read the letters to the editor section of my local newspaper. Conservatives are actually writing in to say that screaming terrorist, kill him, ect ect is such a great thing! Now, Obama just spent four days in Toledo so needless to say the news followed him everywhere and not once did the news pick up a anyone saying kill McCain, or anything nasty that is going on to the extent of Palin and McCain rallies. Yes the people of Toledo did boo when Obama said McCain and he said right away "we don't need that what we need is to get out and vote". There are a few just a few conservatives that have not lost their mind here you are one of them and I'll cover my butt here (lol) there are 2 other ones as well.
I'm not sure what has happened to the conservatives. I use to be a liberal with a conservative side but, this election has made that conservative side go away completely with all the hate that is being slung by that side. I would much rather someone call me crazy liberal than a conservative. I live in a white area of my black city my children go to school with about 80% black and they do not need to hear this kind of bullshyt. I can shut my news off and not let them see the paper but, they do have friends black friends at school that are talking about this.
Palin can heckle her OWN supporters asking her to talk louder but she can't tell them that racist words are not welcome? WTF is that? Explain that one to me? She heard someone call her a "hottie" and she addressed that but she can't address "kill him" "terrorist"?? hmmmmm that makes no sense to me at all!
Oh sorry about the rant but this really really has me pi$$ed off even more than that bailout thing.

xfahctor, they are Republicans, and they reflect negatively on the party they support. I never said they were official members of the party proper, and it is very obvious from the very excerpt I quoted that I had NO intention of implying such.
You're going pretty far to accuse me of dishonesty, don't you think?

Racism is such an ugly thing. I wonder how many folks were impressed with their poor excuse for a political statement?

I saw this on TV tonight and I was absolutely appalled! I heard the head of this organization, the one behind this horrible mailing, claimed she made no racial connection, to her the pictures were "just food", that she couldn't be a racist since she once supported Alan Keyes and she apologized to any recipients of these mailings who may have been offended. Of course, by even discussing this WE'RE playing the race card.

Great way to mislead people Clarus. You're quite talented at that. The GOP had NOTHING to do with this crap. It was a stupid group of racists who identify themselves as republican.
By your logic I guess I can now post about the racism by democrats and simply refer to is as more racism by the DNC. For anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about just take a nice look at how the Democratic Underground treats a black man who supports McCain.

GOP has been used to refer to the RNC throughout this campaign. I've heard it used MUCH more than RNC to the point where everyone sees GOP as the official name at this point. Just look at the OFFICIAL website of the RNC:

Also, GOP != DNC. RNC = DNC. False analogy. "GOP" is a nickname, not a title.

It's sickening, absolutely vile filthy and disgraceful.
However, your post title is misleading. This isn't the "GOP". The National Federation of Republican Women, the national group the local chapters are founded under, is NOT officially affiliated with Republican party. I poked around the site and found this information
"HISTORY OF NFRW'S NAME
The organization's original name was the National Federation of Women's Republican Clubs of America (NFWRC). That name was changed in January 1953 to the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW). "The NFRW, although originally under the umbrella of the Republican National Committee, is an independent, self-supporting organization today"
http://www.nfrw.org/aboutnfrw/facts.htm
Again we see that it is supporters who shoot their candidate's campaign in the foot repeatedly.

I described it as a "GOP mailing" meaning that the people sending it were Republicans, nothing more. You'll notice that my other discussion on a similar mailing specifically mentioned that it was from "the Sacramento GOP", which shows that it was involved with the actual party. It's a subtle difference, but it is clear. I used "GOP" merely as an interchangeable term with Republican, referring to party and not organization.
Hope that clears up any misunderstanding.

And it really would be totally impossible for McCain to repudiate all the imbeciles in his own party. There are too many to count. I'm glad these ignorant women are not part of the GOP. Maybe there is hope after all. Thanks for pointing this out.
