Don't be puffed up with pride if you are able to provide for your needs with very little cost. The first ask of the person who wishes to live wisely is to free himself or herself from the confines of self-absorption
Consider how much more frugal the poor are than we, how much better they forebear hardship. If you want to develop your ability to live simply, do it for yourself, do it quietly, and don't do it to impress others.

Nice comment, especially about the humbleness and appreciation of the poor.
I believe the most important thing is to live a good, honest life - i know it can sometimes feel difficult but we must try and the benefits are great.
I believe having faith in something, more specifically believing in, having faith and love for God is the true way to live a good, wonderful life.
I am not speaking of any specific religion, I am quite tired of all the disputes, arguments, debates, disrespect some people have between religions.
After all what is "religion", how much meaning does that word have, why do we have to think in a way that we are all seperate and disagree so much with each other, disrespect and abuse one another? All different "religions" are simply different routes/paths to the Lord - one cannot say they know it all or they have the one way and others do not compare, that is so disrepectful and ignorant.
We are all God's creation, we are all God's children.
I think we forget that it is God who provides for us, sustains us, takes care of us and does what is best for us. It is not necessarily our actions from which we gain, we do not realise how much God plays a part in this. If this can be fully realised and believed then ego would never enter the mind.
As you referred to pride and self-absorption, I believe this is almost like a disease around the world.
Even simple, basic things like principals, morals and ethics have been forgotten, to some it is all about acting a certain way, looking a certain way, speaking like this, following this rule etc. etc. If others are different they are looked down upon, insulted, abused etc.
I genuinely believe that all faiths/religions etc. are great if followed correctly, if truly understood - why do people twist things to suit themselves, why is the truth so disregarded?
Pride and ego have consumed people and they have acted in truly terrible ways, without some form of guidance, some form of help, something to believe and have faith in it is very difficult to deal with all problems in life, to live a good, honest life.
Almost as much as faith in God, parents influence is very important - I believe this is a bond created and strengthened by the Lord. How great is the Lord? We cannot truly know, we should be humble and have love after all I believe that is the way to be - these are the two most important qualities a human should have and I believe that all "religions"/faiths teach this.
Thank you for your time, apologies for any inconvenience I do tend to go a little off-topic sometimes.
God bless may you live peacefully and happily.

I don't really care about material things, I think that the basics are all you really need, and a little bit of cool stuff is okay. But you have to look for happiness in other places, not just in stuff. You can't depend on stuff for your happiness, because one day you might not be able to afford it. I think that a person's perspective is the most important thing there is. People are perspectives. You always have to know what your priorities are.
