Have you ever had a run in with your mother in law?

Let me start by saying I love my mother in law very much, sometimes though she drives me nuts! She and her husband came to visit last month and they stayed for two weeks. It was the most difficult two weeks of my life. Now she is a very generous, kind hearted person. She is just difficult to deal with. The second day she had been in our home she asked me where I kept my cleaning supplies so she could clean my bathrooms for me. I had cleaned the bathrooms the day she arrived. I also got frustrated by the way she dealt with my kids. She offered my two year old ice cream and then told her she couldn't have it because she hadn't eaten her veggies at dinner. I thought that was messed up. Oh well, I really do love her. It's just better that she lives far away! How about you? Do you have any funny or horrifying mother in law stories?

My father in law is on his 3rd wife, she's a peach. #2 was a different story, younger than I am, thought his 7 kids from his first marriage should call her mom (only 2 were as young or younger than her), sneaky, devious, and always trying to get money from his kids. She was strange enough to even name their child with the same first and middle name! Would invite us to dinner, then expect me to cook it. I was so glad when he finally divorced her.

That's really weird. What a fun experience that must have been for you! She makes my mother in law look positively normal!

I have a wonderful mother inlaw. In 11 years we have had one minor arguement. She doesn't meddle or give opinions. she just listens. I love going to visit her. She is a special lady who raised a wonderful son, my husband.

I love my mother in law too, and I think she did a great job raising my husband. Unfortunately I guess our personalities don't mesh well. Thank you for your response and congratulations on a great mother in law!
