I was very skeptical about associated content because of stuff i heard about it. I have heard mostly that they are very picky about the content that is submitted and don't publish a lot; I found it to be different.
I did one article and i sort of got busy with life and gave up on AC. I was going through my email one day to see that i had to confirm a performance payment of $1.56. So i logged on and i had over 100 page views for one article. I was amazed!
I've tried a lot of online writing and i never get paid or get a lot of views. So i decided to start writing for upfront payment. I just got an offer on a very short review i did on Mickey Mantle's Restaurant in NYC. I was offered $3.54 cents! Not bad for something that took me 5 min and then about 5 more of proofreading.
I have 2 more which are being reviewed for upfront payment. I cant wait to see how they compare to my Mickey Mantle's Review. Between Mylot and AC i should generate a decent amount of extra cash.

Don't let that stop you. I suck too and AC took almost everything I ever sent to them. You're probably a lot better than you think you are.

Yes, performance payments are nice, especially because they keep on coming long after the work is completed, and are in addition to the upfront payment you received. Just be careful, I believe you only receive payments for as long as your account remains active. I think they define active as logging on at least once every 3 months, which is easy to do-- but double check that.
Congratulations on selling that article, and good luck with the others.

It is great isn't I mean those upfront payments are not cause you to faint money, but they get into your account. I will take a small regular amount of money over promises of riches every day.
I just wish they would review faster. They are horribly backed up.

It's been a long time since I put anything up on AC and things may have changed but I don't remember them being overly picky. In fact they took just about everything. I only had one article rejected (out of 6 or so). They told me they didn't accept much Op/Ed and I could readily see why the piece was turned down. As I recall I never made much though. The payments were usually in the $3.50-$5.00
range and the most I ever got was $8.00 for a contest piece. I never sold the rights so that may have been part of the reason for the low payments. Every now and again I get these weird little deposits from AC into my Paypal account which I guess is from hits on the articles I wrote many months ago. I attempted to go back on recently but couldn't remember my password. I think they sent it to me but I accidently erased it. I should probably try again. It was kind of fun.

That is cool. Surprises like that make it worthwhile. Do you have a lot of articles on AC to get paid for cpm?
Do you know if you are paid a residual income for your referrals? I have been considering joining but am not sure of how much time I could put into it as well as if it would pay off.

Congratlations. It's always a nice surprise huh? I started writing at AC back in April of this year and have made a pretty substantial amount of money. At first I was skeptical but once I got my payments it just encouraged me to write more. I am actually a dedicated AC writer and try to write at least 15 articles a week for them.
The only thing that is discouraging right now is the wait time for reviews. When I first joined it only took about 2-3 business days to review and get your payment and now it's more like 10-12 business days, but I still can't complain about the money.
