Can you guess what this is?

What is this? - Can you guess?

I took a photo today and cropped it for a closer look. Then I wondered if anyone would know what it is just by looking at the detail. Any ideas? I am interested to see who can guess it first. Will this be easy or hard. Should I give hints? For those who do not immediately recognize what this is, how would you go about figuring it out? Just have fun with this one!

I have no idea. May be it's to do with your aero garden, some of your green discoveries. I am just guessing since I know about your preferences.

By staring at it for a while, I'm guessing it's a leaf. It's vibrant and green like one. I think I see other leaves in the backround also. This is my best guess, at first it looked like a green lifesaver to me, then I thought it some random piece of plastic. But I'm going to go with the leaf.

Although it is not exactly a leaf, that is much closer to what it is that your other guess. It is not at all random, but what I like best about this mystery object is that is indeed vibrant and ever so green :-)

I'm sorry, I went back and looked at the picture and then my computer started acting up. When I got back in, I forgot to answer your post! I think it's part of a vase or something.

Well it is certainly something! But it is not part of a vase. In fact it is part of a plant, as Guardian rightly guessed. Can you figure out what part and what plant?

mystery flower - to go with the mystery tendril *smirk*
Hi, bass fisherman!Welcome to myLot! Yes, it is a tendril and soon we will have a correct guess as to which plant. Here is a hint:

Let me venture a guess. I think it is the shell of some kind of snail or mollusk, taken from the top view, although I cannot understand why it is green in color. I've never in my life seen a green snail. Maybe you did some touching up of the color to confuse us. The background looks like some leaves.

No touching up. It is just blown up and of course cropped to fool you :-) You are getting close, though.

I have no idea what it is. It looks like a green plate on with ridges. Could it be the plate that goes underneath a planting pot?

I am getting some very interesting responses! You are correct that it has something to do with gardening, but it is not a plate.

Is it a dew drop on a leaf? Knowing you, it has something to do with plants.

Oops...I saw the other responses only after I responded. I'm no good at guessing what kind of plant it is....I'm not a plant person at all.

I left my guess with the photo as well. Although all we see today is compact disc and DVD I think this is a record.

Thank you, Grandma, it certainly is round and has grooves, but no, it is not a record. I remember when phonograph records only came in black, but now they would be all colors, wouldn't they? Let's see if anyone gets closer.

I have a funny story about records. My wife is an elementary school teacher. Up until a few years ago, they still had some of their sing-a-long music on LP. One year she had a day out of the classroom for a workshop. When she came back the next day, she asked the children what they did. She got the usual report: We went to recess, we had lunch, we did our math papers. The one kid piped in, "And we sang songs with these giant black CDs!" At first she didn't understand what the child was talking about. Then she realized that they were describing LP! We had a good laugh at that one.

Well, i don't really know what it is... but when i read the response of the one you awarded the best response to... i never thought that would be it... To me... it looks like one of those rice cakes made here in the Philippines during Fiesta.... it becomes green because they put Pandan flavor... and that would not only make it look green but it would smell like heaven and taste divine too... i do not know the English name of Pandan... but it is one of those plants with long leaves and can grow anywhere...

Yummers! That is Pandanus amaryllifolius and we call it "screwpine." I would love to grow that plant! You are making me so hungry!

Well, geez, you have just told us what it is! It's a section of a photo from your digital camera! Maybe it is a photo of some nutrients mixed with water in your hydroponic garden. It looks like a bit of a stem there in the background and that round spiral thing looks like a plant food bead, and the bubbly stuff looks like water.

Well, yes, I did tell you exactly what is was, didn't I? Yes, I thought everyone would guess it had to do with gardening, although there were some other imaginative answers, too. Yes, there is a stem and there are leaves in the background, and I've posted a more helpful photo in the response right above yours, so now I think many will know not only that it is the unfurled tendril from a plant...but they will probably be able to guess rather easily which plant it is.

Too bad the image is at such a low resolution! It's hard enough as it is to try to figure out what it is besides the fact that you can't really see any detail in such a low res image! Do you have a larger res version of the same cropped image? That could definitely help us see better to guess!
@drannhh (15219)

I had to take that picture very fast because this mystery object does not stay the same for long, but I did post after response 11 above another photo (sorry, still low res!) that is cropped less, and therefore easier to identify. I am most impressed that Gerty was able to guess what part of a plant I photographed and now perhaps with the larger photo you can guess what kind of plant grew this tendril.

Ok, ok. so it some sort of plant. Geez. I'm a city boy. If its green and on the ground it's grass. If it's green and I eat it it's lettuce. Ok maybe peas or green beans but I'm not sure I would know what they look like "wild" and not in the grocery store... LOL

Oh cr(o)p! I'm too late to guess now, aren't I? I want to apologize for messing up your image comment section. I just wanted to let you know what I thought of it and myLot was being difficult and I was impatient! Besides thinking that it could be something found in your garden or that it reminds me of a sour apple lollipop, I also thought that it might be a close-up shot of an insect butt. Heheh. I also looked at your second image and it looks like a cactus. But I know little about plants. We have some kind of succulent outside for years and I still do not know what it is called. Anyway, I also wanted to say that the second image reminded me of one of them musical notes or symbols. Very pretty indeed and I like how you took the picture as it was in the process of unfolding.

Great pun, thank you. It has grown a lot since then, but every time I look at the tendrils they do remind me of the musical symbol. Very astute!

Part of me is really tempted to say a lime lollipop. I put a guess under the picture that it is a green frond or tendril not quite ready to unfold. These things can be lots of fun.

Unfurled tendril from a plant--can you guess which - Now I have made it easy for everyone!
I awarded you best response for being the first to guess correctly that it is a "tendril not quite ready to unfold." But can you guess what kind of tendril it might be. Here is another photo that might help:

Well, it looks like it could be a drop of water on a leaf or some other plant part, viewed VERY close up.

Such interesting answers, and you have provided another clue. It is viewed VERY close up. There is no drop of water on it, nor is it a leaf, but it is indeed "some other plant part." Ok, everyone, that is that best HINT yet. You are very, very close now.

When I was a little girl picking strawberries in the field, we used to wear little straw hats with coils a bit like that, so I can see where you might guess that. No, it is not a straw hat, but that would be an interesting color if it were! Nice try :-)
