Dear friends, Many of you enjoy chatting with fellow friends and sometimes strangers. I have read few discussions here which say that sometimes some of the members had a very nasty and unpleasant experiences during chatting, while some had a pleasant experiences. I would like to have the benefit of experiences of those members here who prefer to chat on-line with friends and strangers. Do you really enjoy, while chatting through chatting window and do you feel that it is an effective mode of communication with others? Did you have any unpleasant or memorable experience(s) while chatting with others? I do not go for chatting with strangers at all, so I do not have much experience in this field, but would like to hear from you on this account. Many thanks in advance.

Hello deepak! A long time ago I used to chat using yahoo messenger. I am too curious about different cultures and people and I know that by just reading their history or something about the place is not enough so I talk to different people whether asians, european, or american but I never gave my true identity. But when I met my husband online, I didn't talk online anymore. I only talk to my husband online. But when I learned about this mylot, I have talked to different people here and discuss about certain topics and I do chat with some at yahoo but I won't give my id unless I know the person.

I do not chat on-line anymore...except with friends on messenger. But I used to around 10 years back. I find that it's easier for me to let my guard down when I am chatting online with a person. I'm not very self-conscious even at my first chat. But I am very careful when it comes to meeting them in real. I learnt the hard way that not everyone is what they project to be. I won't go into too many details of my experiences, but I then started getting smart about having a meeting in public places and/or with a friend around. I also would let my parents know about the people I was chatting to (not too many details....but enough for them to know if I needed help). I've had both pleasant and unpleasant experiences. I've made good friends who still keep in touch and I've also come across some real wierdos.

I don't chat with strangers online so much now... only very occasionally if they approach me for some good reason. I have already formed a very solid and pleasant circle of friends online and tend to stay amongst them. They're good company, make me laugh when I'm down and cry when they're hurting. As soon as a stranger approaches, I tend to start vetting them. I'm not judging, but I tread cautiously. Yes, I have been caught out once or twice but these "offenders" have been very quickly blocked from my computer; they don't get a second chance to get offensive with me! lol. Brightest Blessings, stay safe and be happy with friends! xx

I rarely go online and chat now a days. Back then, I did chat with some strangers in a chat room and some of them are quite nice. I have even made a few friends there but the chat room was a riot for most of the time but it is understandable since many of the chatters are very young and there are many people who flirt in there. Ocassionally there would be a war in that chatroom when a person starts flamming and everyone would vote to kich that person out of the chatroom. But the culprit always have a way to get back eventually. Either by leaving the room before being banned and come back a few minutes later or they sign in using a different username. It was quite fun because there are many funny things being discussed.

Yes I do chat to strangers online but I always keep in mind that not all the information provided to me from the other end might be true.I have had my share of bad experience which i would not like to discuss here and since then i remain alert .But I have formed my group of good friends too whome I can really turn to in times of need.I have never met any of them offline yet.

...So your experience has made your 'wiser' and now you can acess, who is real and who is fake...............and I understand that you go for chatting with those only, who are known to you and I appreiciate your practical approach. Many thanks for sharing some wonderful thoughts and experiences. Actually, this discussion was posted twice, due to some technical reasons, therefore, it has only 6 responses.....LOL!
